Used 1981 Volkswagon Vanagon for sale in San Diego, CA

1981 Volkswagon Vanagon Custom Buildout! Fit to include full size bed, two storage areas within van, yakima roof rack holding 3ea 200w solar panels, arb awning with light, yakima 10 gallon pressurized shower, spare tire and additional space for baggage/tools. Van includes new Kenwood sound system with bluetooth, electric alarm system with unlock/lock key fob, GoWesty shift knob extension + dash cover, and a new ceiling upholstery from front to back. Van was original passenger style but in rough shape when I received. Fully striped van down and re-insulated all walls and floors, added three layers of sound deadening, new walling and wallpaper, 100% chemical-free vinyl flooring, GoWesty bra, new Hakkapeliitta tires 195r15c (no longer made, very rare), custom curtains and curtain rods (much better than original curtains or anything aftermarket). Bought new headlights, fog lights and spotlights in last 2 months. Just left mechanic with nearly 3k in tune ups (invoice attached) to be in best possible shape for someone. Solar is ready to be hooked up to whatever you like, with + & - wires ready to go. I have most of the needed accessories to get a 12v system operating, minus the battery. I have been using as daily driver for over a year while I worked on converting van in my spare time. I have blueprint plans I can share to finish van how I envisioned, with ARB fridge on drawer slides, as well as a bench behind driver seats that holds pull out kitchenette for propane cooktop and cutting board. Taken the van out camping nearly monthly with no problems, year around in the Southern California region. I would love to keep the car, especially after all the custom work that was put in but I am starting a new endeavor and the van won't be enjoyed as it should. I hope to find a loving home for the van. As with any piece of art in the old school car scene, she will require more attention than any thing new but what you get in return is priceless, in my opinion. These cars are not going to get cheaper, secure one while you can. I have invested a lot of time and money to make her work and look like this. I wish I could have held onto this for my grandkids but hoping some else will now!

Odometer was not working when I received but mechanic said the compression was in excellent shape and most of the other major work has been improved in the last couple of years. The interior/exterior is in excellent shape. Car is fully registered, was just payed in August, and smog in CA. I am open to letting any potential buyers have their mechanic look at van to get a one-over done, although i just took this one to Superior Automotive (specialist in older, foreign cars) and did everything mechanic recommend getting done.
