Vehicle Description
It breaks my heart, but the time has come to sell my 2002 Ford E-350 4x4 van. This rig is awesome! The 4x4 conversion was done by Quigley and it has the 8 bolt Dana 60 front axle and manualy locking hubs. The van has the extended cab so there's 2+ feet of extra space in the back. It's also the 6.8L V-10. This is the last year Ford made this motor and it is widely considered the best work horse V-10 engine they made.
--REPAIRS AND UPGRADES--
The odometer says 197k miles on it, but the transmission was re-built at 185k and a new torque convertor was installed at that time as well.
Just Done! Steering system overhaul: New Delco steering box, new tie rod end at pitman arm and drag link end of right steering arm. New tubular right lower front control arm. Power steering fluid flush. Wheels freshly aligned. Still have 11 months or 12,000 miles of warranty on work.
Maintenence: I've had the van for 50,000 miles. I've treated her right, using Mobil One Full Synthetic and changing the oil every 4000 miles. Tires have been regularly rotated and balanced. The engine runs great and will go for another 200k if you continue to treat her right.
Fantastic Vent installed by Van Specialties
Auxiliary powersystem is all wired up to charge off the alternator without draining the main battery, also installed by Van Specialties
Roof rack over back half of van and ladder for easy access (big enough to sleep on)
Custom bed. Bigger than a full size smaller than a queen, with 3 independent sections. 3.5in memory foam covered in waterproof vinyl. The left and right sections have large storage compartments underneath. The middle section can be removed and used as a couch back for bench seats or you have the option to use the space between the two compartments for additional storage (this rig SWALLOWS so much gear)
Insulation: Interior metal surfaces are covered with Refletex to minimize heat exchange. 3 inches of fiberglass insulation is inbetween the Refletex and the wood paneling. Will come with a roll of Refltex cut to fit all the windows to minimize heat exchange through the windows and block light
Two shelf cabinet behind bed for more storage
Interior snowboard (or whatever else you want to hang) rack
Custom paint job. See pics
I lived in this van for 2 years. It has been my go-to adventure rig for another 2. We have been to a lot of really amazing places together. It's not easy to put her up for sale, but I'm minimizing and would rather see her being used for what she was built for... carrying good people wherever their hearts desire... than gathering dust because I refuse to move on. This is a unique rig. It's a strange mix of professional and not-so-professional work. The bed and cabinet was designed by yours truly. I'm no craftsman, but I guarentee everything is well built and solid. Except for changing the oil and filters (which I also did) all of the maintenece was performed by professional mechanics and I have reciepts.
I got the steering overhaul September of 2019, when I decided to sell her, and while she was in the shop I paid another $160 for a thorough inspection of the rest of the rig. I have a list of 8 items that the next owner should be aware of and we can go over them when you come to inspect. Nothing is catestrophic, and you can confidently drive 10-15,000 miles and only change the oil and get new tires.
Bottom line: This van is ready for whatever You could buy it today, move in tonight, be on the road tomorrow and be just fine. You could also gut it, invest in a professional interior build out, upgrade some components and flip the van for $35-40,000. The body is not in perfect condition, but if you want a perfect van, go spend $20,000 more. I am aware of this and have priced it accordingly. I am willing to negotiate with the right inspired soul who is looking for a 4x4 adventure van to take them anywhere and everywhere in style. The reason I have not personally invested the money and tried to sell the van for $35-40,000 is because there are plenty of overly complicated rigs for sale already, and I remember how hard I had to look to find a bare bones 4x4 van I could afford. When I found this, it was like a dream come true. And now, I want to make someone else's dream come true. A note about the paint job... on the passenger side of the van is a UFO with the siluette of a person in black in it's tractor beam. When you open the sliding door, the person gets sucked into the UFO. I have named this person Adventure Man. On the hood and grill of the van, Adventure Man has wrangled and is now riding a giant bull worm.
Lastly, I realize this is part vehicle sales ad, part essay. If you've gotten this far it means you've invested some time into reading, but also that you've invested time into searching for the right vehicle. And if you buy this rig, it too will be an investment. You're investing in a future with untold possibilties. You're investing in freedom and unique style. You're investing in a rig that can break trail in 3 feet of snow, tow 10,000 pounds, cruise the highways and power up sheisty dirt roads. Once you take her for a test drive, there will be no turning back.
You're investing in The Adventuremobile.
