Used 04 outback for parts for sale in VT

I bought this for $2k last week thinking I would be okay with the rust progression and putting work into it for inspection. It needs more than I bargained for and I haven’t had a good night’s rest since I bought it, so I’m moving onto plan B.

Will not pass Vermont inspection as-is but I’ve been daily driving it this week and it runs and shifts fine. I’m not a car person, so take that with a grain of salt. Mechanic says the frame is in good shape, but it needs lower exhaust work (the kid that had it before me has it loud as hell too), and front end work as well as body work to pass inspection. I don’t have a comprehensive list or estimate, but am happy to meet with you to have a mechanic give you a comprehensive list. Has been owned by a smoker at some point and the interior will need a good cleaning, but the seats are well intact otherwise. Might be a good car to part if you need a new engine or transmission.

Ideally I’d like to trade this plus cash for something inspected.
