Vehicle Description
2008 Chevrolet Equinox Sport FWD (3.6L V6 SFI)
**Traverse Sport Engine**
Mechanic Special
Moved to Cali and no longer need a second commuter vehicle. Equinox is currently located at my friend Tim’s shop, Nelsen’s Auto in NorthEast Mpls. I was going to fix the timing chain and donate it, but just don’t have the time any more.
Vehicle showing by appointment, M-F between 08:00-15:00 at the shop only. If this post is active, the vehicle is still available.
$2400 (or make a reasonable offer). Cash or Electronic Payment (PayPal or Zelle) only. Please reply via craigslist email only. Thank you!
The good:
• 2 owners (1st was 9/2008-6/2010, 2nd was me 6/2010 - present)
• Most miles are all highway for commute or camping up north, and I took good care of her.
• License tabs valid through August 2020.
• Non-Smoker vehicle.
• Approved as comfortable by humans and K9's alike for short and long trips (it was kept clean, and has been
detailed since)
• This car has exceptional get up and go/ torque with her Traverse engine.
• Lots of space, back bench seat moves forward and backwards quite a ways, allowing for comfort and moving
large items.
• Tow hitch professionally added 3/2015 (only used for a bike rack thus far however).
• Fully loaded, factory remote start, leather, after market sound system (cd/radio/aux), sunroof, fog lights,
onstar /xm radio capable, hot heat, very cold ac, heated seats, power mirrors/locks, etc.
• Autocheck report pulled and available upon request
• All service records are available and all warranty recalls completed, the highlights are:
o Front stabilizer/sway bar replaced 11/16/2012
o New transmission gaskets and seals replaced per warranty at bulletin 4/20/2016 (118,644 miles).
o New timing chain, gasket, actuators replaced per warrant bulletin 12-06-01-009F 5/27/2016 (119,224
miles).
o New winter tires 11/2017
o New battery 12/2017
o New heater blower motor 2/2018
o New brakes and rotors 6/2018
o Transmission control module/ Valve body assembly replaced 7/12/2019.
o New spark plugs 7/12/2019
The bad:
• Minor rust (small spot on rear back drivers side quarter panel, small spot on bottom right of hatch- both
shown in photos)
• Small scratches to right passenger side quarter panel, rear bumper.
• Turn signal does not automatically cancel (needs a new turn signal cluster?).
• Only one key/fob.
• Lemon Law Title (for electronic issue with rear wiper motor back in 2008-2009)
o Rear wiper still does not work despite replacement motor
• Timing chain requires diagnostic- vehicle works exceptionally- until about 20 miles of use and then starts
missing, has a ticking noise, has occasional trouble with power under load. This ticking then throws a knock
code for Bank 2, *but* multiple mechanics have validated it isn't a true "knock" and the cams, banks, etc are
working and not damaged, that this noise is part of the timing chain issue.
• Driver’s floor mat has a hole worn in it from my dress heel.
• Didn’t have time to remove 3 stickers off of the hatch.
