Vehicle Description

A rare Canadian-American High wheeler of the early 1900s era. Only 514 cars produced by the company from their inception in 1908 until they cesed production soon after. The wood chassis was built in Orilla, Ontario by Tudhope who was a carriage constructor. And the drive came came from McIntyre's works in USA. Engine is a 16hp two cylinder horizontally opposed air cooled unit, driven throught a 2 speed planetary transmission with chain drive to the baxk axle. And in this particuarly car's case, fitted with a Madison Kipp Model 50 sight feed drop oiler to keep the engine automatically lubricated. Carb has been changed from the original Marvel unit to a newer Zenith designed for 20hp. All of which makes little difference as rated top speed is a rather leisurely 8 mph. Has original leather seats (with horsehair stuffing) in reasonably well preserved condition, wood chassis, 36" wood wheels with solid rubber tires, mechanical band brakes, and very possibly original black paint. As 'High Wheelers' were going out of vogue, in 1909, and with the factory being damaged by fire, it was desided to revert back to the company's original products of carriages and farm equipent. And, thus, as the Titanic was commencing construction in Northern Ireland, the Tudhope-McIntyre company was leaving the automotive field so such upstarts as .....Henry Ford. And there it is. Runs, drives, and a perfect conversation piece. Inqire for price and details.
