Vehicle Description
Rare 1942 Canadian-built GMC ½ ton pickup truck project. (now partially disassembled). It has a clear South Carolina title. The display photo shows the truck as purchased. When I bought it, it had a 1971 Nova 6 cylinder engine, powerglide transmission, 1960’s Chevy pickup truck rear end, and 12 volt electrical system. I then put in a new radiator, rebuilt the brakes, and drove it for several years before deciding to upgrade the engine, electrical system, suspension, brakes, etc. To do this I removed the front sheetmetal and suspension, engine and transmission and purchased a bunch of stuff for the upgrade. That’s as far as I got. Other projects, moving (twice), and health concerns got in the way. The frame is solid. The front fenders and hood are in very good shape. The body, doors, bed sides, rear fenders and grill are not in perfect condition, but good considering the age of the truck. The tailgate is fair but I have extras (see below). The bed floor had been replaced with plywood. Except for the grill and hood side spears, '41-'46 GMC pickups use the same parts as Chevys.
INCLUDED WITH SALE (These parts are in addition to what was already on the truck when purchased):
• New Fat Man Fabrications Mustang II IFS suspension, weld-in crossmember, and manual steering rack.
• New ECI front disc brake kit uses GM rotors and calipers.
• American Autowire “Highway 15” wiring kit.
• 3 or 4 extra pairs of doors, extra pair of front fenders, 2 additional hoods, extra headlight buckets, parking lights, dashboard, windshield and window frames, glass, and other items.
• 3 tailgates from 1930s era GMCs that have a special logo (1942 tailgates were plain).
• Extra upper and lower grills and lower front valence panel. They are not in perfect condition but are very restorable. These GMC items are very hard to find.
• A newly refurbished gauge panel, built to 12 volt specifications.
• New fiberglass running boards, rear fenders and lower front valence panel.
• All of the above items are in addition to what is already on the truck (as shown in first photo) EXCEPT the engine, transmission, alternator, pedal assembly, hoses, etc. Also excluded are the front axle, front wheels/tires and suspension which have been removed.
The truck is being sold “as is, where is.” $9,000 CASH ONLY. It is the buyer’s responsibility to help remove the truck and all parts from the seller’s storage facility.

Also for sale at extra cost of $6,000 (if desired):
New, never used 2007 I-6 engine with a 4L60 overdrive transmission. They come from a GMC Envoy that was legally unsalable because it had sheetmetal damage on the assembly line. The engine is an aluminum I-6 with dual overhead cams, 24 valves, and fuel injection (see information below). It is factory rated at 291 HP. The complete package was purchased from the GMC assembly plant and shipped to Street and Performance in Mena Arkansas ( where it was fit with a custom wiring harness so I could run the fuel injection and transmission without the computer. The engine is complete and ready to run including all add-ons (starter motor, alternator, A/C compressor, etc.). I also have an extra I-6 engine that I was going to use as a dummy to locate and fabricate motor mounts, etc.
The Vortec 3500, or L52, is a DOHC 3.5 L straight-5 in the GM Atlas engine family. It produces 220 hp (164 kW) and 225 ft·lb (305 N·m) of torque. The Vortec 3500 is optional on Chevy Colorado / GMC Canyon regular and extended cab trucks. It is standard on the Crew Cab Colorado/Canyon, and the Hummer H3.
The Vortec 4200, or Atlas LL8, is a 4.2 L straight-6 in the GM Atlas engine family. It has four valves per cylinder, utilizes dual-overhead cams (DOHC) design, and features Variable Valve Timing on the exhaust cam, a first for GM Inline engines. Introduced in 2002 for the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, and Oldsmobile Bravada, the engine is also in use in the Buick Rainier, Saab 9-7, and the Isuzu Ascender. The engine was rated at 275 hp (205 kW) and 275 ft·lbf (373 N·m) until the 2006 model year when the GMT360 platform received an increase to 291 hp (217 kW) and 277 ft·lbf (376 N·m). The Vortec I6 engine was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list every year since its introduction in 2002 through 2005.
