This is a 48 Crosley CC Sedan. It's equipped with the Cast Iron (CIBA) engine making 27hp. Over head Cam, overhead valve. There is no cylinder head, it is all one piece, until the crank case. 5 main bearing aluminum crankcase. No oil filter (holds 2 quarts) 3 speed Manual. 4.80x12 tires
Has a Clear VA Title, in my name. Show less than 30K original miles. I found it under a barn( was there since the 1970's).
This car has the very rare 4 wheel hydraulic disc brakes (came out in 49, and were soon recalled).
Here are some video links from the first day I got it, and when I rebuilt a brake caliper.
I got this car on the road back in Mid May of this year. The first day, I drove it to the Carlisle Import Show( had not been on the road 24hrs). Went 400 miles the first 2 days. Ive put over 1000 miles on it. Mr Crosley has never gave me an issue(even driving straight up mountain roads). Starts, stops, drives-well. Has never overheated, boiled, or vapor locked(even in 100 degree weather!).
New stuff: Tires & Wheels, clutch, pressure plate hardware, throw out bearing, pilot shaft bearing, all transmission bearings. New to it universal joint. Ring gear bolt upgrade. Battery, coil, wires, plugs, points, condensor , carb kit. Re-bushed the carb. Fuel pump kit.
Rebuilt the steering box , water pump, starter, radiator cleaned and soldered. Thermostat, hoses, Brake pads, rebuilt calipers, hoses, master cylinder, light switch, lines. Ignition switch.
It holds over 6gal gas. As you can see by the pictures, it is lacking in the paint & body work department. I'm the one who took the paint off. The only gauge working inside is for Amps. Does charge well, still 6 volt positive ground.
I had all new glass cut, comes with all of the new rubber trim & seals. Yes I have what ever trim is not in the pictures(have the bumper off right now painting a fender). Also a fresh glove box, and valve spring compressor.
If your still reading. It comes with : 3 engines, 2 transmissions, 2 rear ends, 2 doors, a box of 6 fuel pumps, distributors , heater box, another new set of 4.80 x 12 tires and tubes for the original wheels (with hub caps) and even a original Tin COBRA Block. It holds water. Might very well be able to be rebuilt.
So mechanically, it is pretty well sorted, you can drive it anywhere( just not fast). A good cruising speed is 45 mph. Those brakes have to be manually adjusted every thousand miles. It been one of the most dependable older vehicles I've been around.
I'm open to trades. Yes I can deliver(drive) it locally to a new home. If your curious, I'm selling it because it lives outside, and I may not be able to finish the paint before cold weather hits.
Please leave a voice message, I don't respond to text's/email.
