Vehicle Description
This 1948 Jaguar XK120 was built using a Fixed Head Coupe body on a Chevrolet S10 chassis, and is powered by a carbureted 400ci Chevrolet V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was acquired by its current owner from Wisconsin as an incomplete project after its previous owner had passed away, and has subsequently been finished for use in local shows. Additional modifications include front disc brakes, a custom dash, and an aluminum radiator.
The body is finished in red and has had the holes for its stock bumpers filled in. Chrome rearview mirrors are mounted to the doors, and an antenna is located on the cowl.
Torq Thrust-style wheels with charcoal centers are shod with staggered-size BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The car is equipped with front disc and rear drum brakes.
The cabin features black seats with matching door panels, trim and carpet. Wood accents are affixed to the door tops and around the windshield. The selling dealer notes that the driver-side window regulator teeth are worn, and the window slips when raised.
A Grant GT steering wheel rests in front of a custom dash painted to match the exterior, and a Pioneer stereo with a USB input is mounted below. The shift lever for the automatic transmission is located between the front seats. The odometer was reset when the engine was installed, and is said to read approximately 3,100 miles. Actual chassis mileage is unknown.
The carbureted 400ci Chevrolet V8 is equipped with finned valve covers, an open-element air cleaner, a chromed alternator, and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission.
