Vehicle Description
The beauty of a panel truck over a pickup is the enclosed, secure rear storage area where you can keep everything safe and dry, from groceries to car parts.
Newly built 1951 Chevy panel truck. Original frame with Mustang II front suspension and GM triangulated 4-link rear suspension. 350 V8, Turbo 350 trans, 12-bolt rear, 2.73 gearing for highway cruising, no need for overdrive. Freshly recovered Chevelle bucket seats, Dolphin gauges, new window channels and door seals. All new steering, brakes, front suspension, wiring, fuel system, cooling system, electrical and exhaust. Engine and trans have an estimated 1000 miles. Runs and drives excellent, starts easily, goes straight down the road, stays cool in the hottest weather. While building it I found no evidence that the body has had any rust ever - all original metal, no patch panels.
This is a hot rod truck with no amenities: no power steering, no tilt wheel, no air conditioning, no power windows, no stereo system or any of those other sissy street rod indulgences that serve to detract from the character of a real truck. The only concession is power disc brakes. The truck is lowered, but still eminently driveable; the front fenders are about 5" above the ground. Coil springs front and rear would make it easy to bag.
It's a fresh frame-up build with under 500 miles on the odometer. All lights, turn signals, horn, gauges etc work to be safe and legal. Have all windshield wiper assembly but not yet installed. Fresh front carpet, not shown in photos. Would make a super shop truck or advertising vehicle. I built it myself from the frame up; I have $18000 in parts receipts alone, plus two years build time, so don't even think of lowballing me. No, you can't build one yourself this nice for this price.
