Vehicle Description
1957 Studebaker Silver Hawk | 185 cu in. 6 cylinder | 3-speed w/OD
Same owner for over 25 years!
This is a great driving car that benefits from a TON of recent work done to it in the past 2+ years/approx. 500 miles.
It recently was driven from San Jose to Monterey in afternoon commute traffic on an 85+ degree day with no problems.
It is very reliable and starts every time, even after sitting for several weeks. It also stops very well due to the addition of a front disc brake conversion.
Here are some of the recent repairs (have invoices for all of the following):
-New front disc brake kit and dual master cylinder from Turner Brake installed
-New rear brake shoes
-New Coker Classic wide whitewall radials (205/75-15)
-New battery, starter, and solenoid
-Rebuilt distributor
-New distributor cap, points, spark plugs, and spark plug wires
-Head was removed, resurfaced, and new head gasket installed
-Intake/exhaust manifold resurfaced and gaskets replaced
-Valve adjustment
-New thermostat
-Radiator re-cored
-Rebuilt carburetor
-Gas tank removed and cleaned
-Clutch adjusted
Other features:
-Lowered w/ 3" blocks in the rear and cut coils in the front
-New full paint job and new chrome on bumpers and exterior trim in 2007
As with any old car, there are things that still need to be addressed:
-Fuel gauge and odometer don't work
-There is a crack in the steering wheel. Doesn't affect drivability at all, but still should be noted.
-There is a small oil leak.
-As shown in the photos, there is rust present in the body. Most of it is in the fins, which are removable on these cars, making the issue a little easier to deal with. You can either remove and repair them or perhaps find replacements, but doing so would eliminate a good portion of the rust on the car.
There are also a couple rust bubbles in the bottom edge of the trunk lid, and at the bottom of the passenger door/front fender area.
$13,500 or best offer
I have walk around videos of the car running, etc. that can be texted, if interested.
The car is located in Monterey, CA and can be shown by appointment.
Thanks for looking!
