Up for sale is " Rosie" my Beautiful 1957 VW Beetle ex show car. This is a real 1957 oval window beetle body that sits on a 1969 I.R.S. pan. It is Licensed and titled as a 1957. It has a California title and current registration in my name. This is an older restoration (90's) California style Bug with custom made interior. It has a great running 1600 Dual Port engine, it is lowered with an adjustable front end (Ball Joint). It drives great. Cruises at 60+ MPH, no problem This car needs metal and body work, and a new paint job to get to the next level. I have done my best to show pictures of the damage. I have decided to sell it and let the next owner continue the restoration process or just drive and enjoy the way it is.
Paint: Custom metallic rose. The paint job is old but still shiny . The clear is fading on the roof. There are minor, small spots where rust bubbles are just starting to form.
Body: The main body is dent free (other than a rain gutter is bent on the passenger right corner), all the fenders have dents and scratches, the hood has 2 dents, the front apron has a dent /crease but is strait, rear apron exhaust cut outs are chipped up but its also strait. Rear bonnet is great but the hood hinge area needs some attention. Pictures show mentioned dents. Proper doors(cut for 1 piece windows) Rusty drivers rear quarter panel needs metal work(Patch panel included). Other than a few mentioned rust surface bubbles under the paint, this beetle is very rust free. Battery area, Heater channels and boxes are good. the corner seam, on the top of the heater channel, above the rear quarter panel,(rusty area) is soft (Picture included). Trunk is custom carpeted with color matching fuel tank with sending unit for gas gauge. and hood springs. Body has all Vin # plates intact.
Engine: 1600 Dual Port , All New Carb, Distributor with Electronic Ignition, Spark Plugs and Wires, Fuel pump, Cooling Tins and Fan Shroud, Header Exhaust ,Fuel Lines. oil pressure sensor, Rubber seals The engine was rebuilt, it has great compression at 115 to 108 on all cylinders. Tight ,no leaks, Runs great, Good power and starts on first crank!
Pan and Suspension: 1969 I.R.S. rust free pan. good cv boots and axels, older shocks. newer Lowered, adjustable, ball joint front end with new steering damper installed. Drives good, tracks strait, tight steering.
Interior: Custom quality work (not the same old generic, reproduction, replacement, interiors most beetles seem to have now!) Door panels, Carpet, and Seats and trunk, are all in great shape, the headliner is sagging in the back but its not to bad. Headliner looks like simulated snake skin! Inside paint is perfect and matches the outside, Dash is uncut and looks amazing. Has a newer (unhooked up ) Blue tooth vintage looking head unit installed.
Rims and Tires: 4 all season matching Gaurdsman tires with Good tread life left, stock Chrome Wheels with hubcaps
Transmission: 1969 I.R.S. unit. New shifter bushings and coupler, Empi shifter with custom leather cover. New Clutch and throw out bearing. Stays in gear shifts as it should.
Electrical: 12 volt system, fully converted. Charges fine. All lights work, gauges (69 speedo with fuel gauge) Brake lights ,turn signals wipers ,rear. License plate light. Front bullets are not hooked up, horn is not working.
