Vehicle Description
Very nice 1963 Chrysler Newport 4-door hardtop with original interior. We have done a ton of work on this car and it is a solid driver. Recent inspection has been done and everything works except the radio and reverse lights, I'm not sure it even had reverse lights before we owned it. This car does have a hazard flasher option installed.
Brakes have been done- master cylinder, all hoses, all wheel cylinders. Some hard lines replaced too. Front bearings cleaned and re-greased. Rear axles pulled; differential drained and re-filled, rear bearings cleaned and re-greased, all bearing seals replaced. The 361 motor: I pulled the heads, had them magnafluxed and machined in Fredericksburg with hardened valve seats, new valves and guides, etc. Cleaned the block coolant passages. New head gaskets, rocker cover gaskets, exhaust gaskets and intake gasket (painted everything as well- exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, rocker covers). Used stainless steel bolts for intake manifold and stainless locknuts for exhaust manifolds. Won't ever be a problem if you need to remove them. Had dual exhaust run with stainless mufflers and stainless bolts attaching the pipes to the exhaust manifolds- so they'll never rust up either. Dropped transmission pan, installed a new filter (internal type which they started in 1964; the external type from 1963 are obsolete), installed stainless steel custom transmission lines and new transmission oil, and a deeper transmission pan special ordered from the dealer with a drain bolt and premium re-useable gasket. Rebuilt the carburetor. I've put a few thousand miles on her since doing the work, so she's well tested and runs smooth, shifts smooth. I use VR-1 racing oil which is expensive but great for the cam. Oh- also put in rear air shocks. New alternator, solid state voltage regulator, new coil, plugs, wires, points, rotor, cap/ usual tune up stuff, new thermostat and housing, new radiator hoses, heater hoses, power steering pump hoses (high pressure line and return line). New fuel pump and all rubber fuel hose sections. Temp gauge works, fuel gauge works.
The only thing I know of that it needs is an idler arm bushing, but she could use a new paint job too. Current one (in the original Claret red color) shows some cracking here and there but still looks good. I would trust this car to drive anywhere, even cross country. All glass is good, all windows work. Interior is in amazing condition and even the headliner is super good. Just turned the heat on now with the cooler weather- no leaks, heat works well.
