I’m unable to take this one to the finish line. Not enough time or money. I bought the car about a year ago and it spent most of that time in the shop. The original engine was overbored and ran way too hot – and I wanted to add a vintage air unit, so I had a 302 built with a C4 automatic 3 speed transmission. This is a California car – built in San Jose and it never left California.
Here’s the short list of things that need to be done:
• Speedometer – not working – can be fixed
• Tachometer – not working – can be fixed
• Horn – was not included when I bought it – previous owner didn’t have it. I spoke to a Falcon expert and he recommended getting the horn (low and high) from a 65 Falcon – or aftermarket.
• Several very small areas of rust need to be repaired / primed and there are only a few small dings – very good condition for its age.
• Paint – IMO, this is a good selling FEATURE because you can paint the car whatever color you want :-) I was going to go back to the original Corinthian White, but there were about a dozen different colors available for 1963 – and they all would look nice on this one.
Here’s a quick list of things that were done (parts and labor) over the last year as itemized:
302 V8 with C4 transmission, Battery & hold down, Brake lines, Coolant hose, Lower radiator hose, Front disc brakes, Trans crossmember, Flywheel, Trans Core, A/C bracket, P/S Bracket, Alt bracket, Master Cylinder, Lokar floor shifter, A/C Compressor, Power Steering pump, Starter, Brake light switch, Trans spacer, misc hoses & pulleys, fan shroud, kill switch, head light switch, Vintage Air unit, carpet, shift boot, steering wheel, Rocket Igniter Wheels (15x6 front / 15x7 rear), Cooper tires (195/60R15 front & 225/60R15 rear), new mufflers and exhaust tips.
I forgot to mention – the car runs great! It should after all this work!
I believe that a finished / restored / all original Sprint would sell for $35K. Sprints are harder to find. Modified / non-original Sprints sell for $15K to $20K. I’m asking $19,999 OBO.
Included in the sale is a parts box, another set of gears and the 14” wheels + tires that came on the car – steel wheels with Moon style hubcaps + car cover.
