Vehicle Description
The Falcon Ranchero version was produced from 1960-1965. This particular vehicle was a late production model from 1963. This was the platform Ford used for the first Mustang in 1964. Originally, this Ranchero came with a 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder and it is the very rare 6 Cylinder 4 speed variant VIN # 3R27U117898 *. Unfortunately, the 4 speed used by Ford in 1963 on 6 cylinder Rancheros was an English Dagenham unit. No parts are available, or have been available for decades.
This vehicle was retrofitted with a 200 cubic inch 1966 Mustang engine in 2011. It is the same engine family as the original 170 and is a “drop in” replacement. The cylinder head was upgraded with hardened valves and the Dagenham transmission was replaced at the same time with the Ford (Borg- Warner) T-10 four speed which was used in the V8 Ranchero. Otherwise, this Ranchero has been kept as original as possible. Everything works including the original AM Radio.
This Ranchero has been garaged in Idaho since 2015 and used during the summer for local runs and entered into local car shows. Prior to 2011 the vehicle appears to have been a Nevada vehicle and this is witnessed by the lack of rust. In the past 4 years the front suspension was replaced (Strut rods, coil springs, control arms, etc.) and the back suspension was upgraded. A new radiator was installed and various parts were replaced and or upgraded (eg: coil, heater, generator). New unused spare parts are included: carburetor, water pump, fuel pump, starter, distributor. Older used parts, still functioning, are also included. Odometer currently shows 24,765. Around town fuel consumption is around 20MPG and vehicle runs flawlessly.
As this vehicle is currently in Idaho, we are open to some negation on the price. Either to deliver it to you for an extra fee or in the form or a price reduction if you come pick it up.
*About 12,218 standard Rancheros were built in 1963. Of these only about 8% (or approx 977 ) had a 4 speed the majority of which were likely in the V8 equipped vehicles.
