The Dodge Polara is an automobile introduced in the United States for the 1960 model year as Dodges top-of-the-line full-size car available as a sedan, hardtop coupe, hardtop sedan, and convertible. Th e sedan was approximately $300 more than the 330 Series and approximately $150 more than the 440 Series. It added back-up lights, additional exterior moldings, a power top on the convertible, and custom interior and upholstery trim. In its various forms, the Polara name was used by Dodge until 1973, when its position in Dodges line-up was replaced by the Monaco. The name Polara is a reference to the Polaris star, in a marketing attempt to appeal to the excitement surrounding the Space Race during the early 1960s. This classic Dodge not only looks great but also packs a punch with an L-Code (Hi Performance) 440 CID engine with a 727 torque flight automatic transmission. Now the Chrysler Corp. used to like to add terms to their engine size such as 440 Magnum, or Commando or even Super Commando. As you walk around the vehicle, you will notice nice details like the bold brightwork of the front end and down the side, the dual exhaust, and the whitewall Cooper Cobra Radial tires. This car exudes a real presence! Take a seat inside and you are greeted by a luxurious interior via the deep black vinyl bench seats in the front and back that sit nicely with matching door panels, carpet and dash. A two-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer and factory auxiliary gauges that include a fuel gauge, water temperature, battery charge and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 75k miles, although the true mileage is unknown.
