Vehicle Description
1968 VW Karmann Ghia Project with Parts
Has a 1600 dual port engine (think came out of a 1970 bug or ghia). 4 speed manual transmission.
Runs and yard drives but will need to be trailered or towed (not street legal, no brakes except parking brake, runs off 2 gal gas can plumbed under hood).
This is a project vehicle that needs a full restoration .. rusted in every spot these cars normally rust: rocker panels, heater channels, floor pans, lower parts of fenders and quarters, engine bay surround, tops of fenders at headlamps, etc.
Passenger rocker has been partially cut out and passenger door jamb braced for rocker and channel replacement.
Comes with lots of new parts including:
heater channel short right
rocker outer skin right
fender inner rear lower front right
floor to fender support right
floor to fender support bottom right
fender patch front lower rear right
fender patch front inner rear right
fender patch rear lower front right
door hinge pillar lower right
nice used rust free deck lid
used axles and parts 61-66 bug ghia (from 65 bug) for short axle conversion
early lowlight dashboard for smooth dash conversion
2" CB Performance dropped spindles installed
a few boxes of other assorted new and used parts
Clean title as well as birth certificate from Volkswagen Museum in Germany.
Can see my thread on the samba look in the ghia forum for Chris' 68 Ghia Build Log - From the Woods back to the Street
Really don't want to sell it but just don't have the time to build it and don't have a place to keep it out of the weather so have decided to move it on to somebody who can do something with it.
$1000 cash firm .. between the car and all of the parts I have over $3500 in it.
Car is available for viewing at Carworks US Route 29 North of Culpeper and South of Remington 8am to 5pm weekdays Monday thru Friday. Evenings and weekends available by appointment only.
