Vehicle Description
1969 C3 CORVETTE STRING RAY T-TOP CLASSIC
This 1969 Corvette T-Top has stood the test of time and is in beautiful condition.
This 50 year old Corvette has been well maintained. Only 3 different owners. I owned this car from 1971 (2nd owner) until 1997. I sold it in 1997 to an older responsible driver who kept it garaged and well-maintained. It was driven less than 5K miles during that 20 year time-frame. As this was our dream car in our younger years, I had first option to buy it back when it became available in 2017. My new passion for building Street Rods has won over, taking up most of my free time.
The paint was done in the early 1990's by me and is in very good to excellent condition. Interior has new original style seat covers and carpets. Original door and interior panels are in very good condition. Door rubbers are also original and in excellent condition.
Original Jack and spare tire are in the original spot. Original bumpers, updated body mounts (done years ago). Also, has power steering, brakes and windows. Recently installed new heater core and fire wall insulation. Original wiring is in nice shape.
Engine was balanced, blueprinted and has angle plug heads; 350 CI - 12-1/2 to 1 compression. John Keifer built engine, built in the late 70's. Good high RPM engine, has a 370 horse power solid lifter cam that idles and runs nicely. Approx. 10K miles on this engine. Numbers are not matching, factory replacement before 1971. Original 4-speed tranny and 411 geared rear end. Blow-proof bell housing. Approx. 89K miles on the car.
Includes a 1984 & up Eckler suspension update kit, which includes fiberglass leaf spring for front and different A-frames. Rear end suspension is mainly original but with adjustable strut rods, also with Eckler updates. Wheels and tire size are from a later year Vette and recommended for the updated suspension. The tires are at least 20 years old and need to be replaced.
This beautiful Corvette with a high powered engine cannot be taken lightly. I don't need to sell it but would like to see someone buy it that can enjoy the history, beauty and modifications of this unique vehicle. It will only increase in value.
This vehicle is being sold in “as is” condition with suspension modifications noted above, as well as wheels and tires. I don’t want to haggle over price, but would be willing to return the suspension modification, the front end, tires and wheels back to original, if a serious buyer wants to pay additional charges. Something we can talk about. Car is driveable as is but I would not recommend anything long distance with existing tires.
My shop is equipped for you to view the car from top to bottom. I ran my own shop and was the guy to go to for years for anyone wanting work done on their corvette. I am a certified paint tech and painter.
