THE LEGENDARY JAGUAR E-TYPE!

HIGHLY DESIRED ORIGINAL 2-DOOR/2-SEAT COUPE BODY

THE CAR THAT ENZO FERRARI SAID WAS “THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAR EVER MADE”

THIS CAR’S STORY…was purchased in March 2019 by a retired business owner who had a building constructed specifically to house this E-Type and a number of other collectible cars. Unfortunately, a recent mild stroke affected his vision and he can no longer drive…this is the sole reason that this car is for sale.
The car was purchased from a Jaguar specialist, and the following are details about the car as they were related to the current owner at the time of purchase. Though we believe the following to be correct, we cannot verify these details with certainty and no warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied as to their accuracy…

• Rebuilt 4.2 liter engine (cost exceeded $17,000)
• Rebuilt 4-Speed Manual Transmission (cost exceeded $3500)
• “Black Plate” California car…unusually solid and straight
• Base-coat/Clearcoat finish in beautiful Primrose Yellow
• Extensive New Rubber throughout the car
• New “period correct” Redline Tires
• Original interior
• Complete “brake job” with new pads/hoses with rotors/calipers replaced/rebuilt
• New shocks
• Extensive re-wiring

HISTORY: The E-type story actually began in the early 1950s as Jaguar began design work on a car designed specifically to win the LeMans 24-hour race. An ingenious monocoque construction technique brought aviation tech to the automotive world and resulted in the famed D-Type. Due to its aerodynamic shape and finely-tuned inline 6, the D-Type achieved 172.8 mph on the Mulsanne Straight vs. only 160.1 mph for a 4.9 liter Ferrari. In 1957, five of the top six finishers at LeMans were Jaguar D-Types.

With the E-Type, Jaguar borrowed both the monocoque construction and general design theme from the race-proven D-type to create a phenomenal street-legal grand tourer that was hard to beat in both style and performance. It was the best sports car bargain in the world, priced at only a fraction of what Aston-Martin, Ferrari, or Maserati were charging. For all these reasons, the E-Type is now considered a timeless classic worthy of the finest collections.

LOCATION: Senoia, GA.which is approx. 35 miles south of Atlanta.

EXCELLENT INVESTMENT – the 2-seater E-Type Jaguar is virtually unanimously considered by collectors to be a “Blue Chip” investment. The E-Type is one of just a handful of cars deemed worthy of permanent exhibition at MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) in New York. At the 1961 Geneva International Motor Show, Enzo Ferrari famously proclaimed the E-Type to be “the most beautiful car in the world”. Later Ferrari models showed more than a hint of the E-Type’s iconic lines.

OPERATIONAL REPORT: The car has been enjoyed by the owner and his family for short local drives. If you have never driven an E-Type, you are in for time travel back to the time of raw sports cars, for this is a true sports car in the mold of the greats from the 1950s and 1960s…it is not at all like the tame and luxuriously refined grand tourers of today.

Because the car is highly original and maintained rather than fully restored, expect that there will be things to adjust/fix and generally improve upon if you wish to have everything operational “as new”. For instance, the A/C does not blow cold, the radio is inoperative, and the windshield washers do not operate. We noted a rocker switch for “Fan”, but it doesn’t appear to be for the A/C unit because that has its own operational switch. Perhaps it is the standard switch for heater-only cars – which becomes inoperative with A/C equipped cars such as this (even the specialist who sold the car to the current owner was not sure!)

In sum, we noted no other operational faults but please know that “new faults” frequently develop on cars that are 50+ years-old, and that oversights on our part are also possible. The car is sold strictly as-is with no warranties expressed or implied, so you are invited to take a look for yourself before purchase.

ODOMETER NOTE: the exact and correct mileage from the time this car was new in 1969 is not known with certainty due to the mechanical limitations of the odometer’s design. Though the indicated mileage of 81,616 at the time of listing may be correct, it is not warranted or guaranteed to be accurate.

IMPERFECTIONS: As a concours judge at International-level Car Shows, I have never seen the “perfect car”…there is no such thing. This car is a beauty that has been very well-cared-for, but please expect imperfections “here and there”…particularly because it is not a fully restored car. With over 100 images, we want you to see the car in detail throughout.

PAYMENT TERMS: A $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal is required to hold the car for 3 business days, during which time the balance must be paid in full via bank to bank wire transfer…absolutely NO CHECKS! You are welcome to examine the car personally by appointment, but we are limiting appointments to those who fully intend to buy the car, and are coming only to confirm that the car is “as shown/described”.

IMPORTANT DOCUMENT & CONDITION OF SALE REMARKS: Bill of Sale, and Georgia Registration will be provided to the Buyer.

The state of Georgia does not require titles for vehicles built before 1986. Therefore, this Jaguar was not issued a title. The Registration document is the legal document of ownership. Every state observes the DMV rules of all other states, therefore this vehicle may be insured, licensed, registered and driven in any state. Whether it is titled depends upon the DMV title rules of your state.

This Vehicle is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied. Even the very best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and repairs. We hope that you are able to enjoy the Jaguar without the need for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found necessary. As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt to start) a collectible vehicle is a new experience.it could be a wonderful ride, or a new repair to undertake. That is the nature of the hobby, and this classic should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible…so we invite pre-purchase examination to serious buyers. All sales are final.

Because this car is only lightly driven locally - and is untested for long trips - we recommend that it be transported to its new locale.
