Only 697 of these Cameo White Tyrol Blue-striped 'Birds were built for 1969. From the time it hit the ground running the Trans Am could more than hold its own against production Camaros and Mustangs as well as act as a halo model for the rest of the Firebird line. Though this car didn't make its public debut until the Chicago Auto Show in March 1969 development of the Trans Am concept dated back to a 1967-'68 engineering project known internally as Pontiac Firebird Sprint Turismo. The PFST was influenced by none other than John DeLorean who worked for them at the time. Despite kicking off 34 years of continuous Trans Am production the '69 model stands out for its unique design coupled with extremely low production numbers making these cars among the most sought-after examples of the breed today- which is why they are extremely rare and restored correctly 120K+ to get your hands on one.This car is a very well done high level "tribute" and by that we mean not just rebadged. It has the 400 CI V8 Pontiac Engine with a 4 speed manual transmission coupled with the Ram Air Hood with dual ram air induction scoops set near the leading edge. It has the 60-inch-wide rear deck spoiler proven to add downforce at higher speeds and a matching blue "Trans Am" decal along with engine compartment air extractors behind the front wheel openings. The Tyrol Blue stripes are indeed painted on not decals. It has a deluxe interior still like new center console with the 4 speed shifter. The paint body and underbody on this car are excellent. It has power steering power brakes an aluminum radiator chrome alternator and the original exhaust manifold. The dash lights gauges heater/blower and external lights all work.
