Used 1970 Volkswagen Type II Campermobile for sale in La Mesa, IL

51,227 Original miles on Original Engine. I just picked up the Camper from Stephan Trogus at Imported Car Service in Lemon Grove. Stephan gave it the once over and it runs like new. As many know, Stephan does excellent, professional work and has been working on Volkswagens all his life - just like his Father. I drove it home this afternoon and it runs, steers and brakes like new.

This vehicle was bought by my Grandfather brand new. It has been passed down to my Father, then me. It has not been modified/restored other than to keep it running in tip top shape. It's been pretty much garaged since the late seventies. It drives just like it always has - turn the key and it fires up and it runs fine. Some parts, like the tires, shocks, a fuse or two, brakes, gas filter, muffler and a few other parts have been changed as to be expected for vehicles 49 years old. The bumpers and wheels were powder coasted about 12 years ago to combat rust and the hubcap retaining springs were replaced. Everything else is original, just as it was when driven off the lot brand new. Still has the "new car" smell.

All original records/documentation/tools for the vehicle are present, including the original receipt and invoice. All original manuals are also present. It has a clear California title.

With the intent of eventually restoring the vehicle to showroom status, I have accumulated an extensive collection of new parts which are included. It doesn't look like I'm ever going to get around to putting on the new parts and doing what would be required to make a 49-year-old car ready for the concourse. The cushions and seats have no tears in them at all. My grandfather did put in a Sears AM radio who made a radio just for the VW Camper, and the Sears manual is present. There's also an awning that extends from the roof rain gutters and attaches to some poles that have never been used. I also have a mosquito snap on net for the rear that just got unfolded for the first time in decades.

This VW Westfalia Campermobile is an excellent platform for a concourse restoration or driving it for many years as is. A vintage classic. There are quite a few additional photos available.
