Vehicle Description
1971 Datsun 240Z Series II built in June 1971 with the VIN: HLS30 34254. One owner car purchased from Calhoun Motor Co in September 1971 for $4,406.73 out the door. This Z is unrestored with one repaint in December 1993 using the original red color. The original and correct numbers 151 HP, 2.4L L24 inline-6 engine remains paired to the factory 4-speed manual transmission. Currently the odometer reads 22,835 miles with a total of 122,835. The engine runs strong with no history of a rebuild and the transmission was rebuilt at 96,643 miles. Dealer installed air conditioning is all there but not blowing cold. The car has been garaged for the past 40 years and shows very well but is not perfect. The body is very solid with a small amount of blistering beginning at the base of the rear hatch and passenger floorboard. This is a very tight and excellent handling Z. Included in the sale is the original AM radio, color matched rear window louvers, misc. replacement parts, a car cover and the 14-inch mag wheels, dealer installed when the car was new. The 16-inch Konig Rewind wheels with Goodyear 205/55 high performance tires were added in June this year with less than 500 miles since. The 51 years of documentation and paper trails is exciting, including a copy of the original invoice, warranty registration notice, warranty booklet and personalized warranty card, owners manual, service manual, both original keys and multiple service documents from along the way.
The online auction marketplace for early Z-cars is strong and climbing fast. I would rather see the car go to a buyer that can touch, feel and drive the car in person. Rather than bragging up all the highs and picking apart the lows, the car should simply be viewed and inspected in person.
Asking $26,500 OB(in person)O. Please don't send me a sight-unseen offer. I'm a small licensed WA dealer/enthusiast that purchased this car to enjoy for myself over the summer. It's now time for this really neat 240 Z to go to a long-term home.
