Vehicle Description
This is a Survivor Truck originally purchased as a government vehicle in May 1972 by the US Park Service, for Yellowstone National Park. It’s a rare model – only 2%, of the 344,916 - C10 Chevy trucks produced in 1972, were “step-side long bed” models. 350 Cubic inch/4-Speed
This truck is factory equipped with a “heavy duty” configuration including disk brakes, large 16-inch wheels, positraction rear axle, heavy rear springs and low ratio gear train (ultra-low first gear and low ratio ring and pinion rear end). This truck was also equipped with hydraulic trailer brakes to tow heavy trailer loads of horses, bison and other livestock, as required.
This truck was retired from Yellowstone National Park service and sold at auction in Bozeman, Montana, where it served as a personal vehicle until a flat camshaft forced the truck into storage beginning in May 2006. In 2015 restoration began in Bozeman and later continued in Kingman Arizona.
