Used 1972 Ford LTD Convertible for sale in Des Moines, IA

Unmolested and rare Ford convertible in running condition. With a little TLC this solid car will be ready for the road, show or to make some dough. There were a lot of LTDs made by Ford but only a few thousand of the convertible models in 1972. It is said to be the second rarest convertible Ford produced. This car was in a collection since 1979 so shows little wear other than from sitting and not being used. Originally from Webster City, Iowa and sold into Hemken Collection in 1979. I purchased from the Hemken collection last summer, 2021. I purchased the car thinking I would turn it into the car I never had in high school by adding fur, Craigers, air shocks and glass packs. Have too many other projects to finish.

Body and top look very, very good. Rating at above average for its age does not do the car justice since it is so solid and has not been in salt for over 44 years, if it was ever. It does not appear to have any bondo and the floors appear to be excellent. The top looks new but no documentation from previous owners that it was replaced. Interior has no tears and is in great condition, just needs cleaning since I have not cleaned it up or detailed. Car is complete and solid. Frame is solid with only surface oxidation from sitting. Motor is not detailed and original.

Car is in running condition. Car had oil change, new tires, battery, fuel tank, sender, fuel pump and rebuilt carburetor.

I have not replaced hoses or belts so those regular maintenance items should be done before getting too far from home. Needs exhaust, brakes inspected and detailed.
