Vehicle Description
For Sale is this recently imported 1973 Land Rover 88 LHD pick up Series II. This Land Rover has a clear SC Title.
This 1973 Land Rover 88 LHD Series II was manufactured in Southern Spain by Santana Motors under a license agreement with Land Rover. Our Land Rover spent its whole life in Jaen, Southern Spain in the same small state where it was built. We purchased this truck from a retired Olive farmer, he is the second owner who purchased it in the late 70s. This is a rust free Land Rover and is an excellent example of a working man’s vehicle as it spent its life working on Olive Farms.
This trucks drivetrain is upgrated with a 40% higher output engine. The 2,500cc turbo charged 4 cylinder diesel engine came out of a later model Rover and is equipped with a 4 speed manual transmission. Truck is
full time 4x4 with a high a low gear range. Previous owner had the engine freshened less than 1000 miles ago with cylinder head work, new injectors, glow plugs and rebuilt diesel injection pump. All gauges are working, no issues.
Truck was repainted some years ago in same color that it came from the factory in. We have some antique Spanish paperwork like the ownership card, title, technical inspection reports, DMV history.
We will include a set of brand new, still in the box, “Deluxe” seats in black for all 3 seats (upholstery, foam, structure for lower and back part of seat)
This truck is a very unique vehicle and runs great. The Land Rover and Santana relationship is often overlooked. Santana was on the fore front of Land Rover development. Because of the tight financial position during the early period of British Leyland (which owned Land Rover), Santana were often better placed than Land Rover which allowed Santana to find failure points early on. Because of this Santana began to engineer its own solutions to common problems into the models it produced and thus arose a degree of originality and reliability in Santana's models compared to Land Rover's original products.
