Vehicle Description
A one year special edition Super Beetle. 1973 Sports Bug. Runs good, shifts good- doesn’t jump out of gear in any gear. This Sports Bug has been in my family close to 40 years, I purchased it in 17 from my favorite uncle who owned it for well over 30 years. He was VW mechanic by trade. Me? Even at 67 I still like cars, all kinds. This Bug is not a rust bucket, one spot below the side window vent and a small dent there too ( should be in a pic posted), and a few pin holes ONLY in the front passenger floor pan. These I cleaned and POR 15 them then used a seam sealer to topcoat them, floor pan under the battery is solid as the rest of them. Car is still mostly original, I have had the factory sport wheels sandblasted and power coated as well as the original sport steering wheel, this I leather wrapped It originally had a foam rubber wrap. We have a new radio and speakers in. I have had some engine/ trans seals, struts, ball joints and tune up work performed, a fair amount invested. The sport seats are still in the car, I cleaned the seat springs and welds only to put the original padding back on with some new cheap seat covers. There is a tow bar with this car, it may have once been towed behind a RV, I used it to bring it home from my uncles home maybe a 80 mile trip.Still more has been done by me to this car, I have receipts to remind me. The Sports Bugs were mostly Yellow with Black trim, this car has had some replacement trim that is chrome not black as Sports Bugs come with but the Vin number of the car falls in the Vin range for the Sports Bug production, this information is obtainable on the Internet, I will post a pic or two of some of the info. There is still lots to do to my Bug it has an old dash cover on it, so I’m sure a new dash pad it would appreciate ,as well as a new headliner, as I mentioned seat need recovering, I put in new carpet, although it wasn’t a great fit, yes there is more to do to it, isn’t there always? No title, uncle lost it. Sold with Bill of sale only.
