Vehicle Description
1974 Ford f100 4x4 SWB SHORT BED, 4-speed, 351w, PS, PB Clean, Straight, and EMISSIONS/SMOG Exempt!
Original 74 f100 in the RARE CONFIGURATION that everyone wants nowadays but not many folks ordered in the 70s:
- Short Wheel Base "Short Wide"
- 4x4
- V8 (factory with a 360, now has a great 351 Windsor)
- 4-speed Manual Transmission w/ 'granny' low gear (NP-435)
- Manual Transfer case (NP205 - the legendary indestructible gear-driven beast!)
- Power steering
- Power brakes
AND
- NOT thrashed, wrecked, rusty or heavily modified
- 1974 is the last year of the PRE-SMOG PERIOD, so NO EMISSIONS NO CATALYTIC CONVERTER ALL 50 STATES
Basically: The good engine, the good transmission, the good transfer case, the good options, and the rare short wide bodystyle that everyone wants. AND she is pretty much STOCK, clean, straight, and nearly RUST FREE (there are a few spots with paint bubbles on the bed fenders (I zoomed in on those spots in the video) - the cab is straight and solid – passenger side floor pan has been replaced. 351w engine has low miles and runs great - consistently pulls 20-21" of vacuum on idle when warm which indicates that it is super healthy. Clutch is good and the truck shifts fine into all gears. 4x4 works great. Brakes are surprisingly good. Runs and drives like a '74 f100 should. The f100 is in the spartan 'Custom' trim, which means no bells and whistles to break - EVERYTHING WORKS, including all the original gauges, the hand crank windows, the various lights, etc. Cloth bench seat is either original or very old, and in nice shape and surprisingly comfy.
I have finally had a chance to get the old girl cleaned up and gotten some decent daylight pics. For the convenience of those of you a bit further away, I even shot a walkaround video and put it on the youtube:
Is it a $40K frame-off full restoration? Nope. She is a pretty original survivor and shows honest wear and patina commensurate with her age - something that some folks prefer, 'cause they are only original once. Unlike most SWB 4-speed 4x4s she hasn't been lifted a foot into the air and beaten to death as an offroad toy. The paint is an older amateur re-paint that is definitely not 'show quality' but has done a good job of protecting the body. I zoomed in on the worst spots on the paint in the video to give you a good sense of the pickups actual condition.
I am reluctantly letting go of the truck I always wanted as I can barely get it in and out of my downtown condo's tiny parking garage space. As a result, it has barely been driven for the past year, which is a shame - this truck is a great driver, and should be humming along on a country road somewhere, not just sitting in my parking garage.
The f100 is currently in Downtown Portland Oregon. I have clear title in my name in my hand. OG Oregon yellow plates with current tags. Tires are near new. Turn the key and drive it away.
$14,000 CASH. I just dropped the cash price $1k 'cause it (finally) started raining. Rainy day special: happy fall C-Listers.
or TRADE for the right 20-30s Roadster hotrod, 4-speed C3-Corvette or 65-70 Mustang convertible. I have cash in hand to trade up, or could take the right lesser value vehicle plus cash - I will consider other trades for interesting classics or late model sportscars, but please keep in mind that book value on the truck as configured in nice driver condition is $25k and mine is definitely a nice driver condition classic truck.
CASH BUYERS EMAIL me with YOUR PHONE NUMBER and I WILL RESPOND PROMPTLY. Emails without phone number or making low cash offers sight unseen will treated with contempt. No flakes, please.
TRADE OFFERS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: email DETAILS and PICTURES of your trade offer - if you don't include details and multiple good quality pics I will assume the worst and respond accordingly. USA made vehicles trades only, unless you have a vintage Geländewagen :) Not really interested in motorcycles or boats. Only other trades I would be interested in are 1+ acres property within an hour of PDX or if you are a licensed contractor who wants to build me a sweet underground bunker on my acreage in Southern WA:)
P.S. I have listed this pickup a couple times now and it has been a serious flake magnet - over a dozen people have said they were coming right over to buy it and then either canceled or no-showed and ghosted. PLEASE don't contact me unless you are serious. PLEASE no fantasy shoppers. If you are in the kind of relationship where you need permission to buy something, please get permission first. I endeavor to be polite, reasonable and honest - please do likewise.
Thanks C-Listers!
