Vehicle Description
1976 Jaguar XJ6C Series II 4-door saloon – Nimbus white - Parts Car
Status: Bought in 1989, driven regularly 1989-1995, garaged 1995-1998, stored outside 1998-2020. NOT currently running – when last driven (~2000), the engine was quiet and ran smoothly. Excellent resource for parts or a project car. A clear Illinois title is in hand.
Type: Exact model made from 1973 to 1979 and assembled in Coventry, England. Series II cars have raised front bumpers (with rubber over riders and embedded turn signals) to meet US crash safety regulations, which resulted in a smaller grille. This car has the original Bosch-Lucas electronic fuel injection dual carburetor system (not the Zenith-Stromberg carburetors of the V12-powered Jags).
Includes: The car is 80% original – 4.2 (4235 cc) straight-6 I-block engine replaced in 1989 & brake rotors, calipers, pads and hoses and inboard brake pads and disks (vented front, solid rear) replaced in 1994. Borg-Warner transmission.
Original biscuit Connolly leather seats, but has been sitting outside for years, so ceiling fabric has come loose & interior has aged substantially. Body has suffered from outside storage – this has a unibody construction, and there are both rust/bubbling and visible holes on the lower body (short steel, unibody construction).
Original transmission, steering column, dash including Kienzle clock, trim, lights, hard-top roof, interior, doors, chrome, decals, mirrors, glass, etc. Suspension is (front) double wishbones, coil springs, and stabilizing bar and (rear) independent.
