Vehicle Description
1977 Chevrolet C10 Suburban 2WD Silverado RPO YE9
VIN CCS167F185166
Manufacture Date 4/77
Milage 125,780 Actual Miles One Family owned since new.
454 cu.in. (LF8) Automatic Transmission Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 (M40), PS, PB, Air Conditioning Front and Rear Chrome Bumpers RPO V37, Wheel Caps RPO P01, Third Seat RPO A53.
Since acquiring it I had my mechanic here in the Twin Cities go over the truck to make it reliable again. We have replaced the starter, installed a new stock mechanical fuel pump (it also has an electric one on it) replaced the accelerator pump, new distributor cap and rotor, basic tune-up, etc. The truck is running and driving well, power steering works very well and it starts in sub-zero temperatures. Tires are in good shape, AM radio works well, has original delayed wipers, trailer brake controller, trailer hitch and receiver with ball. It is equipped with air conditioning front and rear, I do not know if they work. The heater works great.
The interior headliner fabric is pulled out as I’m sure it started sagging. Carpet is all original and in average to good condition for its age. There is a tear in the back area and floor mats front and rear. The upholstery is original, seat cover on front seat as its worn on the drivers side. There is also some wear in the rear seat.
The Suburban has the plugs in the rocker panels that would indicate it was rust proofed from new. While being in California the roof rack (which is missing) started to leak. Water collected in the top rear and rusted the rear of the roof panel. The son did an amateur repair to stop the leaks. The mirror on the drivers side also held some water and wallowed out the screws that hold the mirror. The rear tailgate is solid and the window goes up and down, both from the rear key and the control on the dash. Under the truck is extremely solid and shows no rust through. Chalk marks from the factory are still visible on the frame rails.
Paint is mostly original and is average at best, repairs by the son are evident by the mismatched spots that were sealed up and painted. There were spots showing surface rust and these were painted. The front bumper has pull damage from pulling it with a chain. The Suburban is missing one of the original wheel covers. There are a few small trim pieces in the glove box from the window cranks and door pull.
Clear Minnesota title, issued in 2018.
My feeling is the truck is a very solid original, never taken apart with major body repairs or damage. Sure some rust in the rear top from the water leak but very solid in all aspects. Runs and drives fine. I’ve tried to correctly describe it and not over rate the condition or reality of what it is. I think its time for a second life with a new family.
