Vehicle Description
Our owner has had the car for less than a year. It is in the same condition as it was when he bought it. A very small amount of customization has been done to the car. The paint scheme shown is not the original factory color, but it is true to the 25th Anniversary’s paint color and scheme. This is a good, used Corvette that has been treated well and taken care of. Peel off the T-tops, hit the gas and enjoy the open-air ride. It's a Corvette! Power, looks and a certain mystique makes this car special. Take a good look - it may be exactly what you are looking for.
New for the 1978 model were a fastback roof line, retractable headlights and energy-absorbing bumpers. Our ‘78 Corvette has been repainted in the dark gray and silver paint scheme that resembles the Anniversary models. Although it is not the original paint and was done some years ago, it really does look great. There are only a few minor scratches in the paint, but they are not evident in the pictures. Overall, the paint looks uniform and glossy and it highlights the iconic curves of the legendary Corvette. A small, but tasteful pinstripe adorns all 4 fenders. Corvette wheels with new BFG red stripe tires have been fitted recently. The hood displays an “L-82” badge although the original engine is in the car and it is an L-48. The T-tops work fine and there is no hint of any leaks.
A plusher interior was introduced in the ‘78 model Vette. The gauges are more squared and a larger glove box was fitted. The car’s original red interior is in very good condition from T-top to bottom. The red leather seats are comfortable with no rips or tears. The matching red carpet is plush and does not exhibit much wear at all. There are a couple of small, thin cracks on the dash, but the gauges and instrumentation all look good. The AC is not working properly and will need servicing. The original rear-view mirror has been replaced and an aftermarket stereo provides the entertainment. A privacy screen keeps prying eyes from seeing what is in the hatch behind the seats. It's a great upgrade that adds security and privacy, too.
The L-48 engine in our Vette is the original as is the Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission. The engine is stock and unmodified. As far as our owner knows, it has not been apart or modified and displaces 5.7 Liters or 350 CI. It puts out a very respectable 185 Horsepower and propels the Vette quickly and responsively. The Corvettes brakes, shocks and suspension work fine and as they should. Our owner has not had to have any of these systems serviced, they are all work perfectly. The engine compartment displays a car that has been cared for, it is well-ordered and clean. This is a great indicator of the very good condition of the overall car.
