Vehicle Description
I have a 1980 Rover SD1 3500 V8 for sale.
The car runs well, fires right up every time. The transmission has newly rebuilt hydraulics and the clutch pedal has great feel. The brakes have been completely gone through and rebuilt with a brand new master cylinder and booster, new lines, and a full flush. Brand new tires. All four wheels were refinished and I have an extra wheel as well.
Engine was supposedly rebuilt before I bought it, but I have no proof. Engine runs well, with a slightly rough idle which might be caused by a dirty MAF sensor or any number of things. Engine runs without overheating. I think a few tanks of gasoline should be cycled to maybe purify the fuel and that should help. Suspension will need going through still.
Car will come with bill of sale, I have paper trail, no title, car is not in DMV system and will need to be verified and reentered into DMV still.
Car is more or less complete. I have extra carpets and lots of extra trim (especially interior) parts which I will include. New parts are readily available to order from Rimmer Bros.
BRAND NEW spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel filters (x3), fresh oil and transmission fluid, brake pads, and battery. Body leaves things to be desired, but underneath is structurally sound with only some surface corrosion. The original sunroof was missing and the roof was welded shut with sheet metal and roof is still a little rough on the top. Could use some more bondo to smooth over. Headliner was replaced with a correct (non-sunroof) part to accommodate the change. The green body panels you see in the photos are from another car and I have a replacement rear valence (taillight surround) which can be welded in to combat the rust forming there.
Happy to discuss and show car any time upon request. I took the risk on saving this car from an older gentleman and while it needed more work than I hope and honestly is still a project, you can be confident that the core components have been gone through already and it won't take too much to get it back on the road.
This is a very rare and legendary British car with the Aluminum (Buick derived) 3.5L V8 and a 5 speed manual transmission. Only a few hundred made their way to the US.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Just asking $2,500 cash please or best offer.
Open to the possibility of trades for a scooter like a vespa or honda metro
* note underside photos do not show new cabled brake lines or tires.
