Vehicle Description
1980 Triumph TR8.
3.5 liter fuel Injected V8 with 5 speed manual transmission. Vin TPZDV8AT205107.
Runs and drives great. Recent smog test and new tags.
I purchased this TR8 about two years ago from a guy that was restoring it and lost interest.
The previous owner stripped the car including the engine, transmission, interior, windows, etc. in order to make a complete color change. The car was originally Midas gold but is now a very amazing metallic gold. Really sparkles in the sun.
The PO told me that the car had about 80k original miles when dissembled. The stock 85MPH Speedometer has been replaced with NOS 140MPH Speedo. The way things look and how tight the transmission is I believe that the 80k miles on the clock is correct.
I am a Triumph enthusiast with strong mechanical abilities performing all of the reassembly.
The following is a list of the work I did while reassembling the car. BTW, I have $18,000 invested in the car including the $4500 purchase price. I have most receipts.
Rebuilt engine short block. Water got into one of the cylinders causing pitting that required boring 30 under to clean up. I have lots of pictures of the engine rebuild along with all the other work done. I used high quality parts including a mild cam. Spent $1,115 at D&D Fabrication (experts with the 3.5 liter engine) for pistons, wrist pins, rings, cam, lifters, main, and rod bearings.
New fuel injectors. New high torque starter, New water pump, New clutch including new master and slave cylinders. New shocks and adjustable struts. Rebuilt frontend including ball joints and 1” lowering springs all the way around. Replaced all rubber fuel lines, new fuel sending unit and fuel pump. 123 Ignition distributor, ($620). New aluminum radiator and 14” fan and shroud from the Wedge Shop, ($930). New high grade carpet kit, ($530), New Robbins top,($500). New brakes including new master cylinder, wheel cylinders and hoses. Rebuilt power steering rack, new power steering pump and hoses. New A/C compressor, upgraded to 134a including 134a expansion valve which required dash removal to install. The AC system currently discharged, original AC hoses still need to be replaced. New Radio and speaker upgrades. Panasport Wheels, with brand new tires. Stock wheels included. Includes quality indoor/outdoor car cover.
Includes some spare parts including:
Spare known good PCM (computer).
Spare Air flow meter.
Duel relay.
Distributor and coil.
Plus a box of miscellanies part.
$12,900 firm.
