Vehicle Description
1983 Mercedes 240D Manual Shift
The 123 series Mercedes is the best Benz ever made. It is a lifetime car. These autos are becoming hard to find. Parts are still available due to the large number of these autos produced and sold.
The car has approximately 225K. Speedo has been replaced and shows 206K.
The car runs good. It gets 30 MPG. It has a manual 4 speed transmission. The 4 speed manual shift makes the car much more drive able than the automatic. The non-turbo automatics tend to be very sluggish on start. I purchased car from an estate from the original owner. It was parked for 4 years and I had to drain all old diesels and purge all the fuel lines. All fluids and filters were changed.
The car is a daily driver. It has normal wear and tear for a car this age. There are a few minor rust spots on the body. The clutch is beginning to shudder on takeoff but there are no problems shifting. The clutch was replaced by previous owner before purchase. The paint is original except the hood has been repainted.
The interior is dark blue and in excellent condition. The dash has cracks and with any car this age the interior plastic parts show age.
A list of new items:
New front end to include tie rod ends, ball joints, controls arms, center link, Idler arm bushing, plus alignment.
New Hancock Tires from Pep Boys.
Clutch slave cylinder.
Brake master cylinder.
Alpine CD player with 4 new speakers.
Brake caliper (2).
Brake pads front and rear.
Passenger door stop hinge.
Changed transmission fluid and rear end dope.
Fuel filters, primer pump.
New battery.
The front seal on the ac compressor has a leak. I have a new compressor, expansion valve, and dryer to repair. I also have a new ac evaporator for the car.
This is a very reliable dependable car. I have too many cars so this needs to be sold.
Price $3500.
