Vehicle Description
i am sadly selling my 1983 subaru wagon DL 4WD as is:
i am the second owner and bought from an old lady named norma, (who shes named after, because i thought appropriate for this baby) who meticulously documented everything that has been done to this car. every oil change ect. i paid $2,500. i have all her paper work and some of the stuff ive had done to her name sake. when i bought norma she had 100k original miles. she came from alaska so there is some rust around the bottom from the salted roads. i had some issues with carb. shes had two carb rebuilds. why two? the first people didnt even take the carb out of the car and didnt put new filters on after. and had same issue shortly after leaving. shaking and bucking after shes warmed up. feels like a fuel issue. has new fuel pump. recent tune up.
ive driven her to almost mexico and back and then to utah and the grand canyon. last mechanic said it was an issue with the right side and said the float was too high. and ignition control be fixed. paid $800 on the ignition distributor. & i cant justify another $500 carb rebuild. he called me half way through and asked if i wanted to continue. with my bill at $800 already i give up. ive only owned older vehicles and knew what i signed up for when i bought a 30+ yr old car. i have a 1980 chevy luv truck too ! but have put too much into this subaru.
would have this baby professionally detailed but need to sell soon so i can have $$$ i recently bought a 1994 4 runner and it blew a rod :) so need $4k for a new engine. need to sell this baby fast. gonna miss her bad. but i cant justify putting any more money into her.
cons:
oil leaks
light rust
needs carb rebuild ?
needs tires soon
possibly clutch? feels like pops out of 3rd gear( new clutch cable put in by a friend so no paper work on that)
front right dent (done by the previous owner skid out on ice and hit guard rail )
pros:
cute as hell
ok/good interior!
low miles
two owners
everything documented
new clutch cable
new ignition
4wd
new exhaust
newer front axils
over $4k worth of work in less than 2yrs
