Vehicle Description
This vehicle runs on diesel and used vegetable/fryer oil you can get for free from local restaurants. While it can run on biodiesel too, this car is designed to run on simple vegetable oil (a.k.a. SVO Straight Vegetable Oil, or WVO Waste Vegetable Oil). Used fryer oil is plentiful, and simply needs to be filtered with a filter bag (included) and does not need additional processing like biodiesel. It can also run only on diesel.
The rig runs well and had been well maintained with new brakes (calipers, pads, hoses), a new alternator, newish suspension, recent valve adjustment, new filters and good tires. It's an automatic with AC and power sun roof. Extras include good studded snow tires on rims, roof rack with safari-style attachment, CD player with USB/line input, seat covers, block heater, auxiliary heated vegetable oil tank with push-button solenoids, computer, 12-volt line heater and heat exchangers. The value of the vegetable oil upgrades is close to $2,500.
This near-carbon-neutral vehicle would be good for someone who drives long distances, has a garage, likes to wrench, and isn't afraid to get greasy. Vegetable oil has better lubricity than diesel, and does not release many of the chemicals used in petro fuels.
While it is rear wheel drive, it does fine in the snow with the included studded winter tires on their own rims. Used vegetable oil is plentiful, but takes time and effort to collect and filter. Basic filtration system elements and 20 gallons of filtered vegetable oil are included.
