Vehicle Description
Wonderful Toyota Tercel 4WD Wagon for sale. Manual transmission. Just had new Weber carburetor installed, which has given it a lot more power. Could use a larger exhaust pipe to increase power even more. New belts. Clutch is great, shifting is smooth. Interior is in decent condition given its age.
We really love this car but are selling it because cooling system issues have just started - coolant leak and overheating. Possible radiator/head gasket issue. Typically this is considered a major issue, but it's well worth the trouble to extend the life of this great old car. There's a great forum with a step-by-step guide for replacing a head gasket on this particular vehicle, without access to a machine shop. Unfortunately, we do not have the time or space at this point to give it the attention it needs.
It still starts and runs, but I would not risk driving it at this time, as more damage may occur. If you want to fix up this car, it would be best to put it on a trailer. We need to sell it soon, so please feel free to contact me with an offer. No super low offers, as the carburetor alone was over $500.
Additional info you should know:
Has no AC and needs new heater core. Could use rust treatment and additional rust prevention coating, especially if you plan to drive it in the winters here in the northeast.
Driver's side lock works, but the button doesn't slide right up through the interior siding. Needs adjustment.
Passenger-side window gets stuck when down, possible to roll back up but crank needs greasing.
We have the title from the previous owner, but have never transferred or registered it. Fees will apply.
Under 300k miles. Manual/stick/standard transmission.
