Vehicle Description
I bought this Fiero a few months ago with the intention of just driving it for fun. I grew up with these cars as a teenager and always wanted one. I picked the car up out of Virginia. It had some work done to it before I bought it, including clutch work. It was done by a private individual, so I don't have receipts. It ran and drove fine and I've been driving it a pretty decent amount since I got it. Yesterday (1/25/2022) I thought it cracked the exhaust manifold. Turns out I'm not so lucky.it broke a spark plug. A piece of the old one is still in the hole. I'm not a mechanic and don't know I want to pay to have it fixed. So I'm going to throw it up here to see if anyone wants it.
This car is NOT a show car. It's a 10 footer. Paint is all original and it shows. It's not embarrassing (at least to me), but it is what it is. Interior is in good overall shape. The seats are from an old Cavalier. They are in good shape. I have the original Fiero seats too, but they need a full recover. The dash isn't cracked, etc. Steering wheel could use a recover.it's fine except at the 12 o'clock position, where it is coming apart. So cosmetically it's decent, not perfect by any stretch.
Mechanically it's a mixed bag. Until it spit the plug, it ran fantastic. Started right up immediately, even on the coldest days. Ran without a miss. Clutch is great, shifter is fine (at least as these 4 speeds go, they were never fabulous). Steering is good, brakes are fine. Suspension feels fine. Probably not race track ready suspension, but plenty fine for the street. E-brake works fine. It has brand spanking new tires, as in 500 miles or less. Also a new left rear wheel hub. The bad, besides the mentioned spark plug spit, is mostly electrical. The speedometer, voltmeter and odometer work fine. Rest of the gauges do not. Tach reads too high. Oil pressure gauge doesn't work right, engine temp gauge works, but reads low (as if needle was in wrong place). Same for the fuel gauge. It works, but seems to read high. Radio works when it wants. When it does work, all 4 speakers are good, but it often gets no power. No a/c, never looked into it. Heater works. Power windows work, but slowly. Power locks don't work, but key works just fine.
I have a few boxes of spare parts, mostly miscellaneous odds and ends. I also have the original Fiero seats that need a recover, plus a set of seats from a C4 Corvette that would fit. I also have some trim pieces that are impossible to find.
This is a "driver" if you want to fix the plug or do an engine swap. Please do NOT try to lowball me by pointing out all the issues it has. I've already priced the car reflecting this. Look at the price of a clean '86 GT 4spd, it's way more than this. Also, please no scammers, I can spot you a mile away. If the only thing you text me is "Is the car still available", you will be ignored.
