Vehicle Description
1986 944na with ~90k miles. I've owned the car for 2 years, and daily drove it for about 18 months. Unfortunately it was involved in an unavoidable accident that impacted the front right corner of the car, most notably the headlight and fender. However, the slightest edge of the hood, and front nose/header panel were also slightly distorted. I removed the broken headlight, and will include a solid unit I pulled at a junkyard. The flip up headlight linkages and electric motor appear unaffected, just the light and it's frame were damaged. I believe the unibody and front frame rail to be straight, the impact did not affect the way the car drives, but it will be sold AS IS, WHERE IS. The car retains a clean & clear PA title in my name. With that out of the way, some details:
Good:
• Timing shaft and balance shaft belts replaced and properly tensioned/checked.
• Koni Coilovers (torsion bars still intact) from paragon with racers edge lower shock mounts.
• 944 turbo brembo brake conversion all around with new pads/rotors.
• New Deka battery carrying a 1 year warranty.
These 3 items all have less than 5k miles on them.
The car also has Porsche script door handles, turbo/S2 rear valence, and new only944 shift linkage at both the shifter and transmission ends. Real 16x7.5/9 Borbet type A wheels with hex center caps.
Bad:
Evidence of shoddy bodywork in the past, rear license plate tub, old filler on the same fender that was hit are the worst culprits.
Tires hold air fine, but are on their last leg. It could use an alignment.
Minor electrical gremlins, pass window doesn't work, coolant fan fuse is prone to blowing.
Odometer gear stripped when a friend reset it in motion. A no-no in 944s. I'd estimate about 3k miles since it broke, showing 88k.
The paint and body would rate about a 5-6/10 in my opinion, it's not a show piece.
The interior is rather nice for its age, mildly cracked dash but about a 7-8/10, seats remain supportive and comfortable.
A fine candidate for parts, track car use, or clean it up a tad and daily drive it. Other parts available.
