Vehicle Description
Running car, with matching original hardtop. 123K miles. Soft top in nice condition. I bought and used this last year, planned to fully restore it, then found a 1978 Eldorado that is taking up my spare time and funds, so time for the Allante to go. Great little car, super to drive on curvy back roads as well as the Northway.
Plusses: New rear shocks installed. New right front strut installed. Needs left front strut, price includes brand new strut, strut bearing and donut bushing. Rear brakes installed. New right front caliper installed. Rear calipers replaced with good used and bled. 2 good used calipers included with car. Front brake shoes, new, included. Radio works. Power antenna works. Heater works. Battery replaced either 2017 or 2018 I forgot. New battery terminal and wire installed. Comes with assorted suspension bushings, not installed, new. In dash computer diagnostic system works. Includes genuine GM service manual. No rust, some pimpling around wheel wells. Engine runs smoothly, starts well - fuel injected GM HT4100 at 180HP. Tranny is good.
Grille in good condition, in the trunk, just needs to be mounted.
Tires replaced, according to the guy I bought it from, summer 2017 and he put no miles on it afterwards - replaced them to enhance the sale of the car. I doubt if they have 10,000 miles on them, if that.
Inspection expired in May 2019, never got around to reinspecting it. Passed last year (2000 or so miles ago max) with no problems at all other than the horn switch, which I replaced.
Minuses: AC needs recharge. May need front pads replaced before inspection, but again, they are included with car. Soft top pulldown motor missing; top does latch properly. Visors missing (may be in trunk, I forget). Visor holder in center missing. Right power window not working - mechanical, not electrical. Stuck in the "almost up" position - 3/4" gap or so, covered with duck tape - relax, it is not the shiny silver tape used in "redneck auto repairs" - it is sort of brown and almost matches the car :) Minor smell of exhaust sometimes, not sure from where. Cassette tape player probably does not work, I never used it.
Stain on right carpet, not sure what, have not tried to clean it - it was not there when I got the car so probably from rain getting in the window before I sealed the opening (see above).
This can be a quick fix up and you can still use it this fall with the top down. The hardtop is snug, and I used the car a bit last winter as backup; heater worked fine and the car is air tight so it keeps warm. The car will probably never be in show condition, but what a fun summer driver. Seats made in Austria by Recaro, body by Pinin Farina, made in Italy - yep, the same people that do Ferrari bodies. Comfortable seats, need seams stitched in spots.
Get that left strut installed and the handling and suspension should be great - it was decent before I started changing shocks and struts.
I am open to reasonable offers but I am a cranky old fart that does not think the 50% off, by someone who has never seen the car, is "reasonable". As you can tell I have sold cars on Craigslist before and have little patience with the people who get a kick out of sending dozens of emails but somehow never get around to actually seeing a car.
