I have been the owner since 2011. The two prior owners were family friends of mine. Was my daily driver and has been garaged/covered the majority of the time I have owned it. The W124 E-class is considered one of Mercedes’ greatest cars; these cars routinely go over 500,000 miles, and some over a million. The build quality is second to none, and these were made at a time when Mercedes spared no expense in building their cars.

I have receipts for over $20K in maintenance since I have owned the car. Have always used factory or high quality aftermarket parts. Oil changes have been done with Mobil or Castrol, and have always used Mercedes Fluids.

This car is clean, straight, and been cared for very well. To the right buyer, the attention that this car still needs is not a big deal. I just dont have the time anymore. This car is ready to stay on the road for many years to come. You can find many examples of these 124’s with a low price tag, but with no maintenance records. Parts for these cars can add up quickly. I have already braved many of the issues that these cars will give you, or taken preventative measures against them. The driver experience that these cars offer and the ingenuity that went into their engineering thirty years ago is truly a marvel and something to be appreciated.
Attention Needed/ Condition Notes
The transmission has a prolonged shift delay out of 2nd after sitting or the first time it is driven for the day. Then it shifts fine. I believe there is probably some clutch material stuck in the valve body that is clogging the screens when the ATF is cool.

The AC does not blow cool. I would assume there is/are leaks. I had an independent guy work on it one summer and had it blowing cold. It blew cold for about a year.

Auxilary fan does not get tripped on. I believe from my research this is tied to the AC refrigerant levels being below a certain level.

Will need front rotors and pads soon.

The fuel system may need attention. I was going to test the fuel pumps. This vehicle has two. Every once in a while, the car will not want to fire when starting. I have had once instance where the car cut out when driving on the highway. Every once in a while, driving in a parking lot, you can hear a loud almost trumpet like sound from the passenger rear of the car.

The sunroof may need to be calibrated or have the cable replaced. It will open or close at full speed, then stop. So you have to reverse and then switch back to the direction you were going. Sometimes it operates perfectly normal.

Cruise control does not work. I know that the resistors can blow on the board, but have not checked them out.

There is a very minor engine oil leak. Looks like it may just be the valve cover gasket.

The car does burn a fair amount of oil, but most of these w124’s do because of the valve stem seals. This is not something that necessarily needs to be addressed.

Needs a new antenna mast.

A few minor dings/dents around. Lower front bumper cover is cracked. Lower headlight trim pieces have a good amount of rock chips.

Could probably use a front end alignment.

Missing a few plastic seat trim pieces, trunk floor mat, and the inside plastic trunk lock trim panel
