Vehicle Description
This is a 1987 Mercury Cougar “20th Anniversary Edition”. Approx. 100,000 miles. Production was approximately 5,002 total Anniversary models, with at least 800 destined for Canada. Everything is original including the paint (except for the driver’s door mirror that needs paint)
I purchased this car 3 years ago from my mother-in-law, the original owner that has taken great care (garage kept) since it was brand new. I had to have some mechanical items repaired after I purchased it (see below)
I have driven it only for repairs and then registered it as non-op (I have to many vehicles to keep insured)
20th Anniversary Cougar featured these standard items to set them apart from the regular production Cougars:
• Automatic lights ON/OFF, DIM
• Power Seats, windows
• Automatic windshield wipers
• Wood Grain Interior
• Cabernet Red exterior w/Midnight Smoke moldings
• All exterior badging (front bumper, grille trim, trunk lid and molding trim) was finished in 24 karat gold. C-pillar emblems were finished in gold.
• Nonfunctional luggage rack
• Mustang GT wheels painted gold with a Cougar center cap
• Special "20th Anniversary Edition" dash emblem
• Light Sand Beige interior with unique part-leather, part-suede (Ultra-suede) seats with heating and three-user memory profile. The seats also featured a special Cabernet Red piping.
• Special embroidered 20th Anniversary floor mats
• Traveler's convenience kit
• A hardcover book - "Mercury Cougar 1967–1987", which detailed the history of the Cougar
• 302 V8
• Sport handling suspension package (XR-7)
Things I have had done to the car:
• New radiator
• New heater core
• New fuel pump
• New tires
• New battery
• Smog test
• A/C service
• Complete tune up
• Transmission re-build
