Vehicle Description
Up for sale my 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo S.
I purchased this one of 1000 944 Turbo S on 9/11/2002 so I had the car for the last 18 years. Most of that time the car was in storage and only out for a Sunday drive every now and then. I’ve bought it with just under 80k miles and only added about 10k miles to the car in 18 years.
Mechanically the car is perfect. The engine pulls very strong and the manual gearbox shifts smoothly. The car absolutely takes off when the turbo kicks in around 3000RPM. There were no issues with the car during the time I had it, aside from a vacuum leak that was addressed last year at Eurosport here in Chicago, which is a 944 specialty shop. All regular maintenance is up to date. I even took it to a track this year and the car performed admirably.
The car has a Autothority mass airflow meter kit and a chip, which bumps the power to a bit over 300. Alpine stereo, amplifier and sub-woofer in a custom enclosure in the trunk done by the previous owner.
Car has been detailed last year and the paint condition is fantastic.
Everything works on this car except the following:
- AC not functional. This car uses R-12 and the refrigerant has leaked out over the years.
- The Odometer quits at 87000 miles, which happened last year.
This sale includes 2 sets of wheels: the original 944 Turbo S wheels with old tires, and these 17 inch wheels in the photos which came off of a 986 Boxster S with good Michelin tires. They fit this car well and easier to get tires. I also have the black front bra and a car cover, which will also be included in this sale.
Recent maintenance:
Distributor caps, spark plugs and cables.
Timing belt with water pump, pulleys and seals, balancing shaft belt which was a 4500 dollar job done in 2019
Vacuum leak problems repaired at Eurosport.
Windshield replaced with OEM one. Old one had a crack.
All 4 CV boots were replaced when 1 was discovered torn this year.
Transaxle seals and fluid (with Redline fluid)
Very new Pagid yellow RS29 brake pads and DOT4 brake fluid. Those were recommended to me before I took the car to track.
Asking $33000 OBO, local deals only, will not ship the car.
For inquiries please text first with your name and that you are interested in the car and call so I know it's you.
I will not provide a "VIN check". If you are interested, you can do one yourself after seeing the car.
