Vehicle Description
This 1988 Suzuki Samurai Tin-Top has been expertly modified with a 4-inch lift and underwent a full conversion in 2009 by then Suzuki Lightning Conversions of Tampa, Florida upgrading to a 4.3L Chevy Vortec V-6 engine mated to a GM TH-200-R4 Automatic Transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Ready to flat-tow behind a motorhome! The Samurai is finished in silver metallic paint with black exterior accents, LROR Rock Slider side steps, Garvin roof rack, Lightning Conversion insignia stitched leather seats & door panels, and full interior carpeting.
It’s been upgraded with Bilstein Shocks and aluminum Pacer 15″ steel wheels, a full-size spare, front & rear disc brakes, a front tow-bar mount, an extended rear tow ball mount, rear mud flaps, a folding rear leather covered bench seat, and a Boss AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo. Considerable service records of the conversion, a custom front tow-bar mount, a Blue Ox Acclaim Tow Bar, a Blue Ox Patriot towing brake system, spare parts, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
A 4.3-liter Chev Vortec 6-cylinder engine, rebuilt by Jasper Engines & Transmissions (Stock #324810, Production #761383) was installed in February 2017 by the previous owner. Over the last year a new Proform Slim-Fit radiator installed along with a new coolant reservoir, high performance water pump, and a transmission & oil cooler.
Drivetrain upgrades include rebuilt custom drive shafts, Trail Tough transfer case beefed up mounts, and an anti-warp Track Kit. Custom front and rear leaf springs were installed by the previous owner. Prior to the underside being undercoated there was no corrosion visible on underbody components.
The Samurai exterior and interior was fully painted in silver metallic in 2009, exterior paint has faded on the roof/hood areas and there are several touchup chips with minor corrosion repairs at the windshield lower pillars.
Pacer 15″ steel wheels are mounted with 31X10.50R15LT Cooper Evolution MT tires. A full-size spare is mounted on a Trail Tough rear tire carrier/bumper with gas can rack and 5L gas can. The front axle utilizes manually Warn locking hubs, and braking is handled by front and rear discs. A set of Bilstein shocks has been installed. The previous owner had the power steering unit rebuilt and relocated, coupled with a Petroworks Hi-Steer Kit and a Rancho Stabilizer steering shock.
The cabin features front bucket black/grey leather seats and door panels with embroidered Lightning Conversion insignia, a folding leather upholstered rear bench and full interior carpeting. The driver seat has minor wear marks. Equipment includes a passenger grab handle on the dash, crank-operated windows, and a Boss AM/FM/Bluetooth stereo. Currently the a/c system is not blowing cold air.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Florida, California and Arizona as well as mileage inconsistency in September 1998. Actual total mileage is unknown.
