Vehicle Description
Back in 2014 I bought this truck with a bad rod knock. A good friend of mine had done a 7mgte swap in his pickup and I decided to follow suit with his knowledge and assistance where needed. I bought a donor supra (1987 supra) and got to work. The goal of the project was to have a truck that looked stock, retained 4x4 and would be reliable. Those goals were achieved!
I completed the swap in 2015. Since then I have put a few thousand miles on the truck.
Here is a running list of all that went into making this work:
Fabricated: radiator support, engine mounts, oil pan, transmission mounts, drivelines (done by kitsap driveline), exhaust system.
Mechanical: Reroute power, cooling, fuel, brake, clutch lines, add inter-cooler, intake plumbing, ECU wire harness, other misc stuff.
In addition I put a new head gasket on the 7mgte (2015) and new rear main seal (2015).
For the transmission we took the Supra transmission (r154) apart, put the gears into the truck (r150f) case so that we could bolt the 7mgte using the r154 bell-housing and still have the input shaft reach. This utilizes the supra clutch and beefy gears. This is very good because you dont want to have to deal with transmission issues.
This is 100% drivable and usable as is. I used it this summer to tow the boat to the local lakes to go tubing. My wife just used this truck to haul a bunch of stuff to the consignment sale at the fairgrounds.
Things still needing to be addressed (since 2015)
RPM tachometer does not work. Battery is just about toast (2015 battery and I let it go flat too many times, had a drain from the old trailer wiring which has been fixed). Engine bay could use tlc. various body dents, dings, scrapes. various interior shortcomings. no radio. cooling fan is manually switch operated. power steering belt needs to be tightened.
Comes with lots of spare parts including interior and mechanical. Have the supra limited slip differential you can put into the truck. spare turbo, ecu, intake, transmission parts, wiring, etc...
I am selling because I now have 4 kids, have moved to a different home and want something newer and more refined. I dont need a screaming turbo inline 6 speed demon truck that is just asking for another speeding ticket.
I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have. I will not be allowing test drives unless I have cash in hand.
