Vehicle Description
Selling my 1990 Mazda Miata to make room for a new purchase. I brought this car with me to Ohio when I moved to Columbus last spring. Previously, the car has spent its entire life in California and has never seen snow or salt.
All in all, this is a great first track car or base for a full track/spec build. Car is priced according to condition. Currently shows 172,399 miles. My assumption is this is the original engine, but I swapped the transmission to a lower mileage one within the last 10k miles.
Interior:
- Recaro SPG XL seat mounted to the floor. This gets the seat below the rollbar with a helmet on if you’re around 5’8”. If you’re taller, you may need to remove or replace the cushioning. Seat shows expiration in 2020.
- Stock seat on passenger side.
- G-Force 5-point harness. Installed on drivers’ side. These belts are expired in 2018.
- Deleted carpeting and insulation on drivers side.
- Deleted head unit and center console.
- A/C still blows, but needs a recharge. Heat works.
Exterior:
- Paint is in pretty bad shape all around. This is definitely a track car.
- Front bumper and left fender is banged up from an impact with a k-wall at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California. No further damage beyond cosmetic.
- Front right fender shows wear from car being too low previously.
- Includes plastic window soft top, but it has a couple of rips. It also does not close very easily. Never really cared since I only drive the car in good weather and eventually planned on replacing with a hard top.
Drivetrain:
- Mostly stock, except for uprated Mishimoto Radiator. This keeps the temps down for sure. Had the car running back-to-back sessions at Thunderhill raceway in the summer heat at near 100°F temps without any issue.
- Previous owner installed aftermarket cat-back. It doesn’t sound terrible, but it doesn’t sound great either.
- Power Steering Delete
- Car needs an oil change and brake fluid.
Handling:
- Koni Sport dampers (yellows) and H&R Race springs (reds). Car is set pretty low.
- 15” Team Dynamics Pro Race 2 Wheels
- 205/50R15 Dunlop Direzza 2’s. These have a few track days on them and have sat for a little while, I would replace.
Miscellaneous:
- Loadmaster XL tow plates with removable arms to flat tow car.
- Willing to include tow lights + tracker tow bar for additional $150.
- Metallic Purple Shift Knob
- Third brake light does not work
This car is clearly not without flaws, but I’m trying to represent it as honestly as I can. It’s a fantastic car to drive and all the flaws disappear on the road. It pulls hard all the way to redline and the shifter feels is wonderful. If I had the time or space to keep it and make it better, I would. I know the listed price is on the high side for a car of this quality. Come to me with a serious cash offer and you can take this car home today.
