Vehicle Description
I am selling my beautiful red Benz even though I hate to have to. But sadly it has developed a few mechanical things that I just no longer have time to fix. First the good. The engine runs strong and super smooth!! It has the indestructible million mile engine that never fails to start on the first try and can jump up to 60 in a flash. It has 242,000 miles on it but that is just a hop and a skip for these engines. The transmission was replaced roughly 35k miles ago with a brand new (not rebuilt) which is seamless in shifting. The interior is as close to perfect as I can find in a car of this age. The sound system that is all original will blow you away! It has Premium black leather seats with no cracks or split seams. The dash is in perfect shape and has no cracks which was a common issue with these older Mercedes, the wood trim is bright and beautiful and the doors have no signs of wear on the inside. The headliner is still in perfect shape with no sags and the sunroof works perfectly which is almost unheard of. It has brand new tires with less than 150 miles on them and a brand new alternator and both fuel filters have just been changed in the last 500 miles. The exterior is in really good shape, a few body panels are a little faded but no clear coat peeling or pitting, the one bad part of the body is on the passenger side where some idiot sideswiped it and scraped along the door and quarter panel. But this car has the thick steel body panels so the damage is minor and most of the scrape was on the plastic trim. I can't think of anything that doesn't work on this car, the only thing I would say is that the AC has a leak so it has to be recharged every so often. And as an extremely rare bonus, I have a massive amount of maintenance records that were done by the previous owner over the years that he owned it and actively used it. He did an incredible amount of maintenance and upgrades adding up to over $14,000!!!!! All of which was done at a Mercedes dealer.
Now for the bad, and it is just 2 things. The first is it has rust. I have treated the little rust spots on the body so they won't get any larger. The frame is still in great shape and it still drives perfect, but I just wanted to state that it was a northern car so it naturally has some rust. And second, the brakes have begun to fail on it. I thought it was the master cylinder so I replaced it and had the system bled but it didn't change anything. So I took it to a mechanic and he said that he believes it is the abs pump. Now it is hard to find a new pump to replace them but these type of pumps can be rebuilt easily. This was my dream car when I bought it and it still is today. But I have been working 14 hour days recently and I am now in the process of trying to move so my time is up with this beautiful piece of history. You can repair it or if you just want to part it out you have a fortune of parts in this car. The headlights alone can run close to $500 a piece!! I'm asking $3500 OBO give me a reasonable offer or show me that you are a fellow classic Mercedes enthusiast and I'll make you a deal.
