Vehicle Description
1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo with 5-speed manual transmission and 67,182 original miles. Call/text Joe at 269 four four seven 5860 for email marietjq AT yahoo DOT com.
History: I bought this in April 2018 as a fun summer car, it had 63,588 miles on it. The 85-year old gentleman I bought it from was the 2nd owner having bought it in 2005 with 53,004 miles on it. He bought it from his brother-in-law who bought it new in upstate New York. The car was originally white but was in a minor front end accident and the original owner had the car painted the current grey.
Engine: The engine is 100% stock and has never been modded. The 2nd owner noted the Check Engine Light was intermittent and his local Plymouth dealer couldn’t find the cause. I’ve looked also and had no luck but it doesn’t cause any problems so I’ve just been enjoying the car.
Interior: The interior is in very good condition. There is a small stain in the passengers seat, a medium size stain in the carpet of passengers footwell, a few minor cracks in some pieces (down by dead pedal), some missing fastener caps, and the passengers window switch on drivers side only goes down, but overall it’s complete and original including the CD player. I have the stock shift knob available but currently have a 3d-printed one mounted.
Exterior: The exterior is in fair condition. There is rust on both rocker panels, a few paint chips where the original white is showing thru as well as a few foreigh paint spots on the bumpers. The respray looks okay and could look very nice with some elbow grease.
Maintenance: The 2nd owner gave me a written list of maintenance he had performed on the car while under his care (brakes, suspension, timing belt, etc) which I will provide. Since I bought it all I have done is: change the oil, replace the hatch struts, blasted & powdercoated the OEM wheels gloss black, mounted new tires (BF-Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2s with about 1500 miles on them), and put a new battery in.
This car is a pleasure to drive and is a great example of a 1st Gen DSM. I hate to get rid of it but my kids are growing and I need something with more backseat legroom for when I shuttle them to school. This has been a fair-weather car only for me that is garage-kept and not driven in the winter.
