Vehicle Description
91 Cadillac Deville, haven’t started it in a while but I believe it has about 127,000 miles on it.
Cons:
It requires Premium Fuel.
Needs a good wash inside and out. And is far from perfect on either category.
Climate control and fuel data center come on when they want to, once they are on they stay on but they don’t always come on. I believe the issue is a worn ignition switch.
The alarm occasionally sets it self off at random if the car sits for more than about 10 hours, again I believe this to be the ignition switch, but It’s never gone off while I was in the grocery store or anything, just at night, so it maybe due to my outdoor cats or something.
It really needs motor and transmission mounts done, still drivable but causes a shake on the freeway.
Rear air ride is leaky but unlike the Lincoln’s of this era it doesn’t cause any drivability issues or rubbing.
Pros:
With 200hp and 275 ft lbs of torque it’s a surprisingly quick off the line car!
The interior is extremely spacious and comfortable!
It has a radio with Bluetooth and the speakers are pretty good. If I recall it needs an antenna adapter for the actual radio to work, but I listen to music with my phone so I never bothered to get it. I think it’s $10-$15 at Best Buy.
I’ve overhauled the fuel system piece by piece in the last 2 years or so, including replacement of the fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator and injectors, which I upgraded to the 5.0 Ford Explorer injectors from the late 90’s, a plug and play upgrade as both were made by Bosch and used the same wiring harness connector. The engine runs great now and it was getting 15 MPG when I was daily driving it back in October. Which is great for 91 Deville. She’ll get you from point A to B and even C but I wouldn’t neglect the mounts or ignition switch much longer. I injured my shoulder last year and can’t realistically perform these repairs myself anymore, and I purchased a brand new car for my commute, so I’ve been neglecting this and it’s time for it to move on.
Title is clean, on hand, and in my name.
