Vehicle Description
This is a 1991 Grumman Olson Kurbmaster step van. It was purchased by a ski company in Utah and converted brand new from the factory. It’s got the original 4x4 sticker in the cab from Advanced 4x4 in Salt Lake, Utah. Outside body is super straight and clean. No body damage except for one top rear corner where the previous owner backed into something. Not a difficult fix, just needs to be pushed in and re riveted into place.
Front axle is a Dana 60, rear is a Dana 80. The chassis is a Ford F59 with a 7.3 IDi diesel motor and a ZF5 five speed manual transmission. Transfer case is a CH416. It’s got 75,400 original miles on it, It sat forlorn in a barn for 8-10 years until this last Spring. Non turboed at the moment with new glow plugs and wiring, new R&D injectors and R&D fuel rail with all new fuel hose from electric pump to front. The lift pump has been upgraded to an electrical pump from the mechanical lift pump. I’ve got a Holley fuel pump installed and a dual stage fuel filter in place. I just put in new battery cables from the starter to the battery. Brand new battery and new starter when I did all that work. New custom front driveline ordered from a local driveline shop that has been installed and balanced. A new and improved injection pump from Classic Diesel Designs of Texas has been recently installed with an output of 70cc. It also got all new injection lines installed when all that work was done. It is currently straight piped so it’s loud and mean sounding going down the road. Its got brand new Falken 255/85r16 tires on the 16” rims, front are stock OBS aluminum painted black. The brakes and wheel bearings were just done a month ago. Back rims are stock steel. The shocks have been replaced with a new KYB, it rides stiff but smooth for its GVWR of 17,000. The rear leaf springs are insanely thick! You can tow a lot with this beast. The body is all aluminum and riveted like an airplane fuselage. The inside has been insulated with POLYISO which dampens road noise and heat and cold very well. This is the ultimate camper van Convesion. way better than a Sprinter van! It’s easier to work on and much less expensive for parts and labor. Lots of work has already been done but is still a project, the power steering pump needs new seals so it’s currently the only leak I’m aware of on the engine. It will come with an extra spare 7.3 IDI engine perfect for parts and or to rebuild in the future. Also comes with a spare OBS rim, and a transfer case I was planning on putting in it in the future.
The measurements of the Grumman Olson Kurbmaster van are as follows.
Inside
Length: 138"back of driver seat to back doors
Width:83" aluminum rib to rib
Height:73" floor to ceiling
Outside
Length: 236" bumper to bumper, not including hitch receiver plus 3"
Width:92" awning rails included, not including the side driver mirrors
