Vehicle Description
In the early 90’s, Japanese automakers were at the top of their game, pumping out exciting, feature packed vehicles that completely changed the definition of what a commuter car could be. Toyota was one of the companies that was always at the forefront of new automotive technology, with vehicles developed for their “Lexus” line in the USA being the testing grounds for new and affordable luxury amenities. While Japanese market vehicles never wore a Lexus badge, the luxury spirit still lived on in the innovative Celsior and Soarer nameplates. The JZZ30 Soarer, or Lexus SC300 in the states, has always had a reputation as a luxury car with a bit of bite. USDM models were optioned from the factory with a naturally aspirated variant of the 2JZ. Toyota of Japan, however, decided to keep the more exciting powerplant to themselves. JDM Soarers came equipped with the iconic twin-turbocharged 1JZ engine. This 1JZ transformed the Soarer from a plush luxury cruiser into a formidable sport coupe. Paired with the optional stout R154 manual transmission, the Soarer was built to perform, and perform well. Luckily, this Soarer is optioned with the above powertrain, and it is an absolute blast to drive. With just 121,000 verified kilometers on the clock, which translates to just 75k original miles, this reliable Toyota is in excellent shape for being over 25 years old. The original Super White Pearl paint still shines like the day it left the showroom floor, with no signs of fading or peeling. The OEM wheels are in immaculate condition and are wrapped in a good set of sticky Yokohama S Drive tires, necessary for putting that 1JZ power to the ground! JDM purists will be happy to know that the exterior of this car has remained stock, making it a perfect collector’s car or starting point for a mean 1.5JZ build! The OEM tan interior is just as clean as the exterior! The Factory cloth power seats have held up well over the years and are free of any stains or tears. The rest of the interior remains stock aside from the addition of an aftermarket Kenwood touch screen head unit. While the navigation function may not work on US shores, the factory sound system still sounds great, and is more than sufficient for blasting your favorite tunes as you tear up the highway. An aftermarket turbo timer was affixed to the dash and ensures that the factory twin turbos have plenty of time to cool down. Turn the key and the 1JZ engine roars to life thanks to an aftermarket Kakimoto N1 exhaust. Aside from the exhaust the engine is stock and runs incredibly smooth. The R154 transmission puts the power down well, with no pop outs or grinds. A set of Tein coilovers have been added to improve this Soarer’s aesthetics and keep the car planted around corners. While it may be easy to confuse this Soarer for just another SC300, one test drive assures you that this is no ordinary Lexus. Genuine manual transmission models don’t last long on the market, so snag this coupe before the opportunity Soars past you.
