Rare opportunity to acquire one of only 20 1992 Mustang SSPs produced for the Michigan State Police (in addition to 14 1989 models) in the Special Color "MSP Blue". Originally put into service during June 1992 the Mustang was actually leased to the MSP by leasing Company "Wheels Inc". Based on the original exterior body panels and no evidence of damage the SSP appears to have had a fairly uneventful life in law enforcement. After 4 years of service and with 60,317 miles the SSP was de commissioned and sold at fleet auction as was normal procedure for the "Wheels" fleet cars. Acquired by the second owner (who lived in Brown City, Michigan) who restored the SSP Mustang to its former glory over the following years by sourcing and researching many of the correct and original law enforcement equipment. Our dealership owner purchased the SSP for part of his private collection and now has decided to sell the collection and therefore this car is now being offered for sale. Like all other MSP Mustang SSPs the 5.0 V8 is coupled to an Automatic Transmission. There are some very unique features of the 20 1992 SSP Michigan cars. Most obvious is the 160-mph "certified calibration" speedometer, also a full-size spare tire on the matching Alloy wheel. An awesome feature often overlooked is single-key operation for doors ignition and trunk with a relocated internal trunk release button. Others unique features include Silicone Fluid hoses (still present on this car!) Engine Oil and Trans Fluid Coolers Specific Alternators Two piece Speedo Cable Courtesy light delete (operation) Reinforced Floor Panels and other unique features. Behind the drivers headlight attached to the core support is the all important "dog tag-style" buck tag showing the DSO and SSP designations ("DSO" stands for Domestic Special Order) and all MSP cars have a second tag indicating the color: "Michigan State Special Blue". Presented here in superb running and driving condition and having only covered 1300 miles since retirement in 1996!
